Also, keep in mind that this is SOE's game, not ours.
It's not their priority to keep the players happy... Nor have they often put that as their priority. SOE killed Planetside. SOE killed SWG. These wounds never heal. Don't get your hopes extremely high for Planetside 2.

I only played with the CN players during the free 45 days, but from what I could see, they were already pretty segregated. On NC, they all played with each other and you couldn't get a response from most of them even if you whispered to them directly.

They may have been on the same server, but if you think that automatically makes them part of the community, then we both have very different ideas about what the word "community" means.

I'm not sure why you think everyone has such little resolve? Is it beyond the realms of belief that people are willing to remove their support of a company that operates in a way they find unacceptable?

For a lot of people, myself included, this is the worst case scenario. Beyond something ridiculous like a mandatory $50 monthly subscription fee, there is literally nothing else they could have done to stop us wanting to play this game. The only possible avenue they'd left themselves to make people abandon their game and they went down it like Sonic the hedgehog on crack.

That's somewhat fallacious though Ray, they were originally segregated in the first place.

It's only when the Chinese servers went down we had a huge influx of players into the English speaking servers.

As eluded to earlier, perhaps there are some that would prefer not to be tied to The9. If there are, then they haven't made themselves known or we simply don't know about it.

Either way that is not a valid deconstruction of the issue here.

Then we do have a different sense of the word "community" because I fought side by side with CN players every time I played in recent years and just because there was a language barrier that didn't mean I didn't appreciate their presence. In fact, I hold them in high regard because I feel were it not for the CN players, Planetside would have been shut down.

As for your edit, it's a free world. You can decide to support any company you want. Personally, when I weigh this against everything the developers have been doing this entire time, I'm choosing to still want to play the game. This may sound cold, as much as it sucks to have gaming clans split by this, I'll learn to live with fewer accents and generally lower pings.

There is no way I will cancel, my main contact is my daughter for this game, and she is regionally local (same room...). But I do see the point of the europeans, I speak some german, and I always enjoyed talking to them (partial ancestry) when I got the chance, mostly cause I cant understand a word of Scottish (other part)...

I don't think that was the poll question. I cancelled my subscription in order to fill in the comments section at the end of the form. As I've said, there is a team at SOE who is paid to scour those and present them to their boss, either on a weekly or fortnightly basis. He is the reason I cancelled my subscription this morning.

No, it's a valid point because lets face it, most EU players played on Werner until Gemini was the only option. It's an extremely fair comparison. The only difference is the language barrier kept the CN bonds at arms length for the most part, but they were still an important component of the community.

You would be amazed how many Brits played on Emerald since the start of PlanetSide. Very well-known, high profile CR5s. To say that the Euros came over when Gemini was created is inaccurate. Hell, DT won the Outfit Wars on Emerald in 2005 and half of our Outfit is EU based.
