Basically the devs not listening to the community. That's a huge problem.
I would respect Spork more than anyone on earth if one day he said, "Everyone, we're listening. But we've got families to feed, the suits pay us, and the suits want us to try this CTF(<--- insert whatever else you don't like) thing. I don't want my wife and kids to go hungry so try it for the devs' sake, then bitch enough and rest assured the suits will eventually listen. You know how dumb and stubborn execs can be sometimes. They think they know what customers want!" Of course that would never happen. Oh yeah, I think MAXes are too weak, and why hasn't anyone nerfed the goddamned cancer yet? |

Lets get this out in the open right now, because there have been little comments like this since before Beta closed. Your 1$2.95 a month entitiles you to log on and play. Not new guns, vehicles, bases, continents, or any other type of content. Would they be nice? Sure. But they are not mandatory. You do not "deserve" them for paying SoE a monthly fee. If that doesn't appeal to you, please do yourself a favor and look elswhere for entertainment as MMOs do not seem to be somthing you're going to like. This is an MMO. There will be major bugs. There will be lag. There will be smalll but somewhat annoying bugs that take for-fucking-ever to fix. There will be new content, but it will not come quickly and most of it probably won't be free. There will be idiots, and in your group/squad/guild/outfit too. The players will never believe the Devs listen enough, and the Devs will continue to do what they believe is right for the game which is wrong about as often as it's right. This is an MMO, boys and girls. To me it's probbaly the most fun and frustrating type of game, which is probably why I enjoy them so much.

I'm going to have to agree with Happy lil'Elf on this one. It's also important to separate the Devs from SOE, as it is with every game out there. The people making the game aren't the ones who woke up and said "Let's release a game that's not quite done this way we can start cashing in on our investment." Devs are gamers, just like all of us, and they share the same views in many cases as we do. What they're trying to do is make a solid game with the time, money, and people they have. But this is also a business, and there are people high above the Devs calling the shots and are more prone to making decisions that are better for the company.
Spork is like the speaker for the White House... he isn't involved in decision making, and can only report what little information he has and try to dance around the rest, making efforts to keep the name of the people he work's for remain mostly clean. The information "promised" by him isn't anything set in stone. It's like Ari Fletcher (or however you spell it) saying that we'll find Saddam this week... his words just don't have real weight, but too many take it as much more. I hold more confidence in the Associate Producer's Letter... right there is stuff straight from the fingers of a guy who has some power in the course of this game. He's like one of the President's secretaries, and can make a difference. Learn what sources are worth quoting, and which ones you have to give a bag of salt to. The Devs are listening, as our favorite PR man Spork has alluded to. You just have to remember that your voice is only one out of thousands, and even a hundred people agreeing on something that needs to change are only a small minority in how many people there are out there to listen to. And like your parents, they have to make decisions for your own good even if you don't like them... So clean up your room and eat your veggies, people... they really are listening. There will always be a problem with the game, but let's all try to remember that we like it enough to keep playing. Technically everyone here, the Devs, and the PS community are all on the same side because we just want a great game to play when we get home from work/school/picking up the welfare check. And no, I'm not on the SOE payroll... I just know a person or two in the industry. |

There's an easy way to solve the platoon problem. It only works if all the squads are in the same outfit. Just have the SL's communicate thru outfit chat and then you can have any number of squads cooperating that you want. Although this isn't nearly as good as platoons are/will be, it is an OK temporary solution. It is also hard to organize large outfits into squads, so this is for the smaller outfits, like mine which has a total of 50 members.
It's not platoons and it isn't easy but it works alright.

"See, now to me that question implies you think that for your monthly fee you are entitled to not only new content every month, but more of it that you've been recieving.

Look at ANY of the SOE or developer responses to the question to why PS deserves a 13$ monthly fee, and every single time they mention monthly updates, constant balancing and patches and exclusive content. What pisses me off even more is that when it comes time for people to renew, then they parade out all this other free shit for people to drool over, then don't deliver it within the same month they say they will. I'd appreciate it if you'd not fucking tell me where to go or what to say when I'm paying for the same product you are.

Hmmm....
I REALLY enjoy this site and I enjoy the game, but I do not enjoy having to glean information out of a post full of cussing. I'd like to read what you have to say but not when you have to curse to do it. It makes you sound childish. Use a more intelligent way to insult someone or express anger. Or dont do it at all. Either way will prove you to be the better man/woman for it. |

it's official. Navaron, i have not read a single post of yours that has not made you seem like a very bitter old man who spits at children that walk by his house.
the worst thing they did was make more promises than they could keep. no, not WOULD keep. COULD. believe it or not, they DO work on the game, and it's NOT easy to program things. i'm quite happy paying $26 for the liberator, the skyguard, orbital strikes, fixed bugs, vehicle changes, medic love, lasher love (although it's a tough love), EMP blasts, new chat colors, and A MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER ONLINE FIRST-PERSON SHOOTER with dozens of certifications, weapons, vehicles, and thousands of real people to play with. New content doesn't make old content obsolete. if you hate everything THAT MUCH, just stop. you've certainly made my forum visit an unhappy one, and i'm sure you're not dancing the night away over there. if there's ANYTHING stopping you from cancelling your subscription, THAT'S what the monthly fee covers.
