A friend of mine was all jazzed about it when it was first announced, but I didn't have any desire to play. Simply because my lack of broadband. But, since I got cable now, and a wicked machine, I've been following it (like a madman!) for about 6 months.

off and on bout 2 years as well.

I actually saw the ad for it in one of the gaming mags the other day at the grocery store. 3 full page ads, one each devoted to the various factions.

I had to catch myself from jumping up n down like a 5 year old.
I'm just waiting to see the word

I heard about the game more than a year ago, but only started following it intensely 4 months ago or so

No, for closed beta there are very few spots, about 1000. For open however there are more.

Open beta would ahve unlimited spots available. That's why it's open. Closed beta has what MrVicchio said.

So explain to me this. Why in the form did it ask you to choose whether you wanted to be in closed or open beta? Why would you apply for open if you could get into it anyway? I'm sure they won't want idiots in beta who just want to play.

This points to the fact that open won't have unlimited spaces, and that open beta candidates will be chosenAnd anyway, it can't be unlimited because the beta server won't accommodate unlimited players .
