I actually liked Of Mice and Men; that, and Catcher in the Rye are the only two books in high school I enjoyed. "Billy Budd" was the book that pretty much ended my high school motivation... For some reason I just could NOT understand that book. Before then I was a valid victorian candidate, but after that I gave up... My GPA plummited from a 4.0 to a 3.3; and I distinctly remember my senior english teacher (a class that had to be passed to graduate) called me into her office as I was leaving and I remember he exact words: "What is wrong with you!?" she screamed at me. That knocked me back... She said she does research on every senior she has to fail, and she found out about my previous grades and performance, then noticed after that english class I gave up.
Just told her the truth, "high school has sucked my soul, I have no motivation to do anything anymore, I can literly sleep through 90% of class and still pass, I guess I just overdid it in this class." Well she was a real awesome lady... In return for taking part in some class design meetings she gave me a C-.
It took me nearly five years after getting out of high school before any motivation ever kicked in.
