I leave mine on all the time.
I reboot about once every 6-8 months. It's the Lighbulb theory. When does a lightbulb burn out? it's when you turn it on. Computers are very similar if you keep it in a state of being warmed up and happily churning away then it will last a long time!

i leave my laptop on, and the sucker goes into hibernate when i'm not using it. that's my "off" state. i'm terrified of turning computers on and off because booting up a computer is like a box of chocolates, you never know when you're gonna get the nasty tasting one with the orange and brown paste shit inside that tastes like a gangrenous foot. I mean.. when i leave my computer "running," whether it be in hibernate or just plain on, i know that it's working correctly and that it won't go apeshit unless I do something stupid. Whereas, if i turn it on, i never know what to expect. Sometimes computers just do wacky shit when you turn 'em back on.
I defrag once a week, run scandisk and virusscan pretty often, and i do all sorts of nice purging activities to help save my computer from all the bad stuff. I have a pretty nice machine, so i'm not going to let it get eaten by glitches. Pentium 4 3.06 MgHz 512 Mb Ram, which i'm upgrading to 1024 over spring break. An upgraded mobile radeon 128mb VRAM video card And a whole bunch of other nifty shit. Plus a cooler that i designed myself to set the computer in when i'm playing games that tax the computer's inards.. I don't want my baby to overheat. i suppose it'd be smarter to play games on a desktop, but my laptop runs so damned fast i just can't bear to go play PS on my dad's desktop. It's a P4, 2MgHz with 512Mb RAM and a fucking VICIOUS video card. i think it's the most powerful GeForce out there right now. it's a nice card. it'd probably run better on that thing, but hey, it's MY laptop, damnit.. i'm gonna use it.

Saw what you want about eMachines. Theyre tanks and can take an assload of punishment. Ive dropped the case while transporting it for LAN parties at least a dozen times, have slayed so many virii on it that the CDC would be impressed, and, even after all that, the only problems I have are bad frames, the occasional faulty USB port, and a green monitor.
I let my computer sleep. Continually running hurts performance, and, well, I dont need any more of a performance hit while GAMING on an EMACHINE. God, I hate that company.

Electricity costs money. I keep it off. Besides, the mofugger has like 13 fans including several massive ones, it is loud for a computer.

The gun katas. Through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically predictable element. The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly. |

Unfortunatly, my fundage only was 100 billz, so, I bought dinner/movie for the girl and a 69$ video card which is in the mail at the moment. I do appreciate the offer, and would take it if I had the money to buy processor/ram. But, I dont
