Depends on how you look at it I guess. I figured it would be good for the guys if they're in the middle of a huge fire fight is all. Could even be a faster version of the healing mod we have now in game. Not fast enough to replace a med app, but an advantage to help get your foothold back in shape. You would still have to have a medic or w/e they have in PS2 heal you to get full health quickly.

This is also assuming the aegis shield generator would still be in the game. If so hopefully the unit brought a couple. Or maybe it was destroyed while the unit was holding its ground and needed another one. |

Perhaps the crate could be an object that fit into the vehicle spot? Or a module that replaces it. I liked the idea of being able to kick your trunk out as a crate in the Original, but with all the fighting around towers and bases there seemed little point.

I do enjoy the idea of the Galaxy acting in more roles than taxi drivers, but the same thing can be accomplished with a Lodestar/AMS/Galaxy Forward Operating Base (FOB). We had ops that utilized this with effectiveness. The Dragonwolves would find a remote part of a continent, drop the AMS off and set up. The troops would matrix to the AMS and we would take off and do base drain operations. The Galaxy drops off the troops and then RTB to the FOB with gunners. With the Lodestar in toe we could quickly relocate our FOB based on the way the map was playing out.
But I do support a majority of the ideas in this thread. What I wonder is how the drops will be utilized. Are the occupants going to be put into small drop pods with the pilot having skills to compliment the mission. I'm thinking that is we have small pods that the Galaxy pilot can certify in things such as; Stealth drops - squad cannot be spotted until they are on the ground Quick drops - the pods fly down to the ground quickly. Radar can show the pods coming down but it would only take 2-3 seconds for the pod to hit the ground. I can think of a lot of blitzkrieg moments using this Pods with ammo supply - the pod itself can be used as a small resupply depot. The soldier can deconstruct it if no longer needed. Great use for infiltrators.

In your original post, which I quoted, you said "much like air assault in the military". That is a direct quote. I corrected you. That's *ALL* I am getting at, so don't interpret too much into what I said. I'm not advocating anything pro or con - I'm saying, the description you provided and said was "much like air assault" is NOT air assault at all, it is air-insertion. They are two separate concepts. Do air assault units land their birds or do a 3-ft hover? Absolutely. But they don't call it air assault, they call it air insertion.

The idea of jumping out of the ramp is pretty damn epic. It would also remove the need for having enter/exit animations for the galaxy.
1. You load up by just running onto the galaxy 2. You fly first person in the cabin of the vehicle (adds a lot to immersion if your a passenger and can't see whats happening outside). Imagine being in the cabin and everything is quiet then all of a sudden you here flak bursts like all hell and bullets start pinging your galaxy and you know you are nearing your drop when the ramp opens... 3. You simply exit the galaxy by running off the ramp. In addition you can have a back ramp and side panels like those vehicles the republic uses in Star Wars. For aerodynamic purposes just have a metal door close over them while flying and only open up when the drop is nearing. |

This would definitely make it feel more like a insertion vehicle for me. They've stated a bunch of times that BF was an inspiration for them. I hope they played the Desert Combat mod for BF1942. The C130 was a bit glitchy, but it made you feel like you were inside of one, and it was even cooler to run off the ramp over a capture point. |

As long as there are seats inside and places for maxes to lock in. I really like that idea of using the ramp that way.
I got the fix for limiting the number of people. You walk to the ramp and press g and your character walks inside after the ramp comes down and sits down in a seat on the side. Simple. When you alt+g you are put into a queue and the ramp comes down and you jump. "You are 2/5 to jump" Last edited by Sirisian; 2011-07-28 at 05:47 PM. |

I don't think we need to arbitrarially slow down jumping out of a Gal anyways. It's not something that needs a fix. |

Personally, I'd like to see a GAL drop go something like RoughNecks: Star Ship Trooper Chronicles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LWRc...ailpage#t=134s If the time stamp doesn't take you there, head to 2:20. |
