Recognition is a big part of gaming whether or not its for combat related action or time in service. Every game likes to distinguish themselves and show of something to prove it. If you say you dint your lying especially in a competitive fps. Personally I'd like to see the ribbon rack make it into PS2 with the term of service rolled over and a PS1 ribbon.
Very few games out there have a fan base as loyal as Planetside and the fan base deserves some recognition for putting up with all the crap over the years.

Yeah, I don't personally care to distinguish myself. I'm not lying, either. I also don't really play any game competitively, I just play for fun.

Nothing wrong with competition. And it usually produces a bigger player base and longevity.

If only that were actually true, we probably wouldn't be looking at/for a PS2.

But really, it's ease of play. It's why CoD and WoW are so freakishly popular. You don't need to be a 16-21yo twitch gamer to actually succeed.
