Re: Twitter screen shot

I think I'm in love.

I've been saying for years that the atmosphere of a game is almost as important as the game play itself, and one of the things I disliked most about PS1 was is skies. They just didn't look real, and it only got worse with the bending. Sure, some places like Solsar looked neat with the giant sun hanging overhead, but the clouds didn't look right which in turn made the world not feel real. It was one of the things I was most disappointed in from the original alpha sreenshots of PS1 to what we ended up with. Those early alpha screenshots had a much more realistic skybox.

If this is just programmer art...WOW!

Its looking great. Even if PS2 is not going to be a graphical power house the art behind it going to make it look awesome.

Not read up on this at all; are they unreachable as part of the skybox or can we fly around and through the clouds?

The clouds are actual objects that you can hide within. Means you can fly your little wee figher craft right into them. On top of that, they seem to affect and be affected by light in a somewhat realisitc way.

This is crazy stuff right here man, totally crazy.
really need to see that stuff with my own eyes. Wonder if they could manage to let the clouds be affected by planes.

yeah, if they manage to let us fly through the clouds and disrupt them with our planes, so we can do paintings in the sky, the art team will rise from semi god status to full god ;-)

Multiple cloud layers? I hope that means that it's possible to have dogfights between cloud layers.

Sorry if that's kind of huge. >_>
Edit: Yay, it resized!

Really matt, we need details on the entire technical stuff. All we know is josh saying that the game runs on Win XP. Is that indeed true? How exatly could those cloud stuff exist on DX9? Remember, Win XP does not go above DX9, because microsoft wanted to boost its crappy Vista and lied into our faces.
Look at how much amazing stuff CDP RED did with just DX9. It's also possible that the eye-candy will only be eye-candyish on DX10-enabled systems.

Also, Higby told me on Twitter that my spec (i5 750, 4GB, GTX560Ti) should be rocking in PS2. Considering I get great framerate in BF3 beta with damn fine visuals (too bad the game itself is meh), I'm pretty sure PS2 won't disappoint.
