(only if the flight ceiling is just so high than pilots look like a pixel in the sky)

The pylons are'nt pointing into the middle of the reticule - it's like TR maxes arms.
It may be deceiving that you see a solid visual aid (the pylons or the arms of the max), but you aren't shooting where they lead your view. Actually, as TR it works fine for me if that will mean VS fighters will always shoot under their targets! |

No more reaching max altitude and suddenly running into a solid, invisible roof. I'd also like to see different aircraft have different MAX altitudes if it makes any sense for balance. I don't really care which aircraft can fly higher than which, it would just be more interesting than every aircraft being the same. I guess we would already have that at least to a small degree in the sense that faster aircraft will probably be able to drift up higher with their momentum before falling back down. |

Just flame-out above a certain height, so maneuver of your plane, like any plane without power depends on two things: control surfaces, and velocity of airflow past them.
MUCH more user-friendly. The higher the flight ceiling, the further pilots can get from camping AMS's or whatever their cowardice-du-jour is.

What would be kinda cool is if we had (maybe as an upgrade, although it's pretty overpowered if not every pilot has it) a system like they want to do on the next gen US fighters, where the aircraft has a bunch of external cameras linked together slaved to the pilot's visor, allowing him to turn his head around and basically see through his plane
Which again brings up the question of freelook |

Higby said they are still working on the flight view/HUD though, so it may even be less of an issue in the end. Free look could obviously be more of an issue, but again, just put an option to turn it invisible. Maybe even an option to only make it invisible while free looking. I don't see the fact that the pylons aren't pointing at the center of the screen to be that big a deal either. The current HUD looks pretty big, bright and obvious, so I doubt a couple little pointy things at the edge of the screen are going to throw many people off. I can't wait to finally be able to fly inverted in Planetside. Even with all of it's simplicity and limitations, flying was still a lot of fun in Planetside 1, but having full, dynamic flight mechanics will be a blast. I used to play a lot of Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator when I was younger. I haven't played a lot of dedicated flying games lately, but flying has always been a lot of fun for me. I especially like flying in Planetside, because you have the large open environments of a flight game, while having real human troops and vehicles running around all over the ground. It's a dynamic that no other genre can capture, and the fact that it's being improved for PS2 just makes me giddy with anticipation. |
