Although boomer was an ACE, it was mostly used by cloakers, so I hope it shifts to this class.

Now that certain things are class restricted, it makes sense that ACEs, or some engineer class specific nanite construction tool similar to them, would be something that no other class could use.

My hope is that C4 replaces the boomers old role, something that anybody can use but will be especially handy for classes like cloakers. Same general damage and effectiveness as a PS1 boomer, but in a simple package that makes sense for all classes to have access to.

Then hopefully boomers will be like upgraded versions of them. Bigger blast, more damage, maybe able to take out a tank in a single shot if placed on a weak spot (more balanced since an engineer can't sneak up on a tank as easily as a cloaker). Maybe it takes a little time to place the boomer making it harder to stick to moving targets than C4 (although I would still hope you could place it everywhere as well, assuming it stood still long enough or was immobile).

Maybe like Shogun said, the boomer could also be a free piece of equipment for engineers, while C4 costs resources. Seems fair to me. Make engineers the ultimate demolitions class and make other classes have to work to be even half as good in the role.

Tho I will miss my combat engineer/cloaker, I agree that engies should have biggest boom.

Well from what we have heard, automated engi turrets are already out, so really the boomer is the biggest combat engi piece of equipment that a cloaker would be lacking. As long as C4 is in the ballpark of the old boomer and the new boomer is even more powerful, I think it will be pretty awesome.

They certainly have more room to make the boomer even more powerful now that certain items can be class restricted. I'm not the biggest fan of classes, especially if they are overly restrictive, but they do have some advantages.

Hopefully classes end up being just slightly more broad versions of PS1's own equipment restrictions. Heavy with no medigun I can deal with (although a cloaker healer is still awesome and will be missed if no option is made available). Having totally different equipment choices with no crossover like Tribes Ascend is taking it a little too far.

I still like T:A, but there is really very little reason that at least a few of the weapons and pieces of equipment shouldn't be shared across classes. I'll still play PS2 if it is that restrictive, but it will be a big disappointment for me.

I'd love to see things like cloakers being able to unlock mediguns, but not ever being nearly as effective or having nearly as many options as actual medics. Some cross class cert options would be pretty cool.

Why not? Plenty of other MMO's have multiclassing

Isn't this the same noob who refuses to call an ATV an ATV? He's pretty lame when it comes to PS1 but he can draw like a sonnovabitch! Does that count? And the whole token black thing!

Cloaker Boomer in game, or I will be sad.
