but all 5 of them have to have rockets, they could be a rocket squad with ammo man behind them and that is completely reasonable. I don't think that a tank could take 5 rockets to the face and not at least be disabled.

PS1 had great vehicle play imo, I would hate to see it go down the route of BF3 where tanks are instantly disabled and do almost nothing. Why even pull a tank? |

and how many of that thousand players will spawn tanks? It doesn't count how many tank will go down the proportion will be the same since you will still need 5 players busy to take 1 down

Depends on where you hit it. Vehicles are going to have hit locations just like people. Different tanks have different amounts of armour. Hit a tank from the back to lower your TTK. Do you factor in that it is harder to hit a VS tank then a TR?

We're all so tempted to post these balance threads so close to beta, but in a couple of days, they'll probably be meaningless. Oh well, gives us something to do until then.
The sweet spot TTK for PS2 imo should be in between BF3 and the original PS. 2 shots is way too fast for the amount of effort it takes to drive tanks up and into enemy territory. Vehicle destruction should take around 4|6 shots. Last edited by DerFurst; 2012-06-14 at 10:28 PM. |

Should probably also add some huge ass mechs, lets call 'em RBFs, which stands for Robotic Battle Frame. Sounds like a solid idea, I don't know what could possibly go wrong. Edit: Holding W and pressing A or D now and then isn't Rocket-Surgery. Last edited by captainkapautz; 2012-06-14 at 10:31 PM. |

It would be cool to have tanks last as long as they did in WW2, some Tiger 1's have been reported to have received over 250 shots and made it back to base on their own power.
But that would obviously be unrealistic for a game :P I agree with Turdicus, tanks should be able to kill other tanks at a fairly decent pace, 10-20 seconds. But infantry should have a very hard time killing a tank, they should only scare it away under most circumstances. |

You're missing the point though. In BF3, tanks only needed two rockets to destroy. Considering the scale of this game, more people will be firing at you, and each death sets you back quite far. Dying quicker in a game where it takes longer to get back into the action is terrible design.
