We’re going to enable this thing…this is going to be like the hunt for Osama. It’s a map app, and what we’re going to be doing is allow players to fly a drone on their phone. And then if they have a high enough level in the game, they’ll be able to launch a drone strike. So gameplay out of your phone or your iPad, and it works on both iPhone or Android.
I actually jumped off my seat and freaked out in excitement.
This is the coolest app I've ever heard of for a game.

You guys are an extremely passionate community. We don't want to make a promise we aren't able to keep because a) we don't think it's the right way to treat your community and b) because I'm scared of what some of you might do.
But nobody of us would ever do anything bad, really!

Wonder how they will handle continent population if 2000 is going to be the supposed maximum allowed and how large a single server will be, 6000+?.
Of course this could change at any given time.

And when they say "some weeks away" you're over a few, which means more than three weeks, which is pretty much the same as saying at least a month out.

Time to take a shot.

I'm really looking forward to this as well. I like that I can still be part of the game from work. This was a pretty good interview.

10 squad platoons. I wonder if that is accurate or just misspoken. I hope it is true, because you could still have 3 squad platoons, you would just have the option for larger if you wanted to. Let the platoon leaders decide how big or small they want them to be.

The Planetside 2 apps are sounding better and better the more we hear about them. I'm half expecting to be able to jump in and play the actual game itself off of my phone if they keep this up.

The drone thing sounds really interesting. Whenever I shoot one down I will always imagine that someone, somewhere, just swore out loud in a board meeting. That is goddamn hilarious and I want it even though I don't have a smart-device.

More like corporations.

Corporations...

Eve has corporations...

Is Smed telling us they have bought EvE Online and will be merging it's space combat with Planetside to deliver us both ground, air and space combat???

If we're going to read so much into "random word + weeks" might as well do it with the rest too :P

Sounds like a really exciting idea, but I'm curious as to how they're going to manage that. You would hope that there will be some kind of cap, otherwise, the drone spam would be relentless. Perhaps an OS like timer?

Although it really is a bit early to get too deep into the weeds on this, right now I'm just enjoying the news.
