yeah but i was hoping this hybrid MMORPG/FPS
wouldnt be the same as every other FPS...y'know...considering how revolutionary Tribes/T2 was in that case...and the fact it adds so much new depth to skill and gameplay i was just wondering if it would be included. instead its left out and its just another walkalong fps

I like the no jetpack thing. I was kinda sad at first, i loved the jetpack in T2 but no jetpack means more teamwork, a lone MAX can't just jetpack all the way to the enemy base, now he needs to hitch a ride. Stuff like that makes me happy there is no jetpack.

ok...so they cant cowboy. im assuming the bases are far enough apart that even with a JP it wouldnt be easy...
at least a thrust pack or something to get you airborne would be nice. walking along the ground is just so boring. it takes less skill to hit a person restricted to ground than someone who is able to move in the air and on the ground. seems newbified

Depends from where you look.
Yeah it's easier to hit someone who can't jet up but if there was a jetpack then the same can be said about the other guy, with his jetpack it's easier to not get hit and just jump away instead of trying to dodge/strafe his way into killing his attacker. |

some people could MA, some couldnt. people played and practiced...and over time they got good. they are able to MA people with discs (rockets or projectile weapons in here) and chainwhore (minigun etc) and snipe moving targets (sniper rifle in here) with ease. it would distinguish skilled players over people who can simply move along the ground and strafe/fire/time shots. but i guess they arent exactly looking for the type of crowd that wants it to take time/skill to master.

Yeah but jetpacks just change the focus of skill from defense to offense.
In the first scenario you have to try to skillfully outmaneuver your attacker with no jetpack. In the other the attacker has to try to skillfully shoot the guy who is jetpacking everywhere. Same skill just different area. |

ok. im not too familiar with "classes" and "armors" as such.
make it an option that a certain (offense based) class/armor can have a jetpack or some other pack instead.... so they would have increased maneuverability but have to sacrifice armor maybe.... and isnt there anti aircraft type weapons/turrets in game or something? on top of this...that would also lead for a defensive "vanguard" (i hope thats what the frontline troops are called) the defense would have its own small squad of jetpackers or assorted anti air people to setup in the forefront to intercept the flying enemies.

It's not a jetpack, you're making it seem like you can hover and shit. You can't its more of a boost, very limited. Also you can't alter direction in the air. You must use your momentum.

Then it'd be Tribes 2. It already sounds alot like Tribes, I'm glad there's a difference in them.
