I linked the wrong one. This thread is expanding quickly.

So, having played ps1 beta, and from launch, and yes 'I did wish to pre-order core combat', and have an subscription to this day (soe all access)... my beta access is valued LESS than someone that buys a $15 magazine this month... I am a pissed. Like I said before, if we all got in at the same time, I have no beef. But that quote means some PCGamer codes will be getting beta before ps1 some vets (however you define it) - which I think is most untriumphent /BSPrestonEsquire Access to beta really should be Long Time & current subs > current subs > ever subs = PSG codes > website signups > other non PSG publicity invites > open beta. They can bunch up the first 3 for all care in the first wave, but I take offense and combining them (and thus inviting PSG codes before current & long time vets) like they are OBVOUSLY doing! To put it simply, it SHOULD be: Beta 1 = ALL PS1 vets and All/some PCGamer codes Beta 2 = Above + other special promos + some website signups Beta 3 = Open Beta Not the current setup Beta 1 = Mix of some PS1 vets and some PCGamer codes Beta 2 = All ps1 vets and all PCGamer codes Beta 3 = Open Beta Whatever, I'll get over it but I'll have nightmares tonight about some D-bag getting his PSG mag and saying 'what is planetside' getting the first wave while the guy who intentionally kept his sub for the past year (after the beta access teaser was mentioned) active because he was so pumped about it. Higby can hide around his wording 'among the first to get access' rather than 'the first to get access' like he skillfully used at the time, but I will forever hate him for it. i don't get why a massive multiplayer online game is basically advertised on a niche, old format,,unupdated media wich is the already-considered-dead paper magazine.
I think getting a beta access would be better for the mag itself than for soe because they managed to piss off the veterans, and plus PS2 is still mostly unknown... SOE you should have handed the beta keys to mainstream websites like kotaku,RPS...THIS...or via twitter...you would have access to a major crowd of non-casual gamer. Who buys those papyrus in 2012 anyway? Playing since 2003...and very diasappointed Last edited by stordito; 2012-02-17 at 02:57 AM. |

Considering the amount of views this thread has, it embarrasses me that this is the first glimpse some people saw of Planetside's community. Hopefully not many people made it far enough through the thread to see it...
RPS has been good to us too, but think about the kind of people who subscribe to a PCGaming magazine...They're going to be gamers. Gamey, gaming gamers who play, and when I say play, I mean play play. Edit: Also, people subscribed to a gaming magazine are more likely to have been gaming long enough to know what Planetside is and what it's about. Last edited by Vancha; 2012-02-17 at 03:09 AM. |
