They[SOE] didn't announce anything because they have virtually nothing to announce yet. The original PlanetSide was shown at E3 prior to its release back in 2002(people were able to actually play the game at the booth) so there is no reason why it won't be shown again. Consoles are obviously a major attraction because they hold the majority of the market share but there is still a thriving online population.

I think the problem is people are being naive and hopeful because of an ambiguous remark made some time ago that left a lot of people thinking the game would be released in March, or even this year.

The fact is, PS2 was not shown at E3 show so you can bet the game won't be released any time before the year is up. My prediction, however, is 2013 with a best case scenario being next May or June(after E3).

On a side note @ Firefly: You're tired of Arabs and Liberals like most of the world is tired of ignorant Americans being loud in volume and dumb in knowledge.

No, it wasn't some ambiguous remark. We were hopeful because of a very specific promise from the Executive Producer of PS2 that stated back in April, "a lot more detail will be released in the coming weeks and months." Thats not ambiguous at all. It's been over 8 weeks since that statement, and we've heard nothing other than "we are working hard". Also, Smed stated clearly that they were releasing the game "later THIS year". These are not ambiguous statements.

btw - Everyone knows Canada's not even a real country.

Right now... We have more info about an 40K mmo coming in 2013 (thats still 2 years away) than the suposed "Planetside" sequel despite the quotes above promising more. I personally call that an insult. It creates negative feelings and can be avoided so easily.

Do you (SOE) have shit to show or not? If not, tell us that you don't and stop being dishonest. (<- Unrealistic statement.)

Well that's just it. We can pretty much guess they don't have anything to show. Or they would have. Those pics we got were basically photoshops of some early models. The game is probably a year or more off.

So the biggest question is what the hell Smed ever meant by March release.

I imagine they saw their current game and looked at BF3 and all the new games releasing and figured they had to do things right and not disappoint the community. Thus the new engine and added development support.

Well its true that all the sudden everyone seems to be rumored to making an MMOFPS. The Bungie guys that did Halo are said to be making one. Blizzard is said to be making one. There is a Tribes MMO in development.

So yeah maybe SOE realized they wont be the only one an will need to seriously step up their game to have a chance.
