I also built it in stages, I got the case (NZXT Phantom) MONTHS before I got anything else, then I got a killer deal on the Mobo and Proc, then the RAM from new egg (G Skill) was on sale for 10 bucks off and finally the Graphics card. I already had a 700 Gig HDD and a 1000W Power supply so those just got re-used. Start to finish took me about 8 or 9 months so the shock to my wallet was pretty spread out. |

I'd put it in terms of how much food you have to buy to keep yourself playing planetside. So for me, how many potatoes, carrots, oranges, apples and the like I must digest to give my body enough energy to play.
Other than that what evening said above - take care of those you care about, and get what you want done, and then any money is just there, its not doing you any good just being there. Last edited by Karrade; 2012-07-20 at 12:51 PM. |

im about 4 grand at the moment.
i have not owned a computer since i became a truck driver in 2005(no time) and then me and my wife split up(she took it). like 2007. since then i havnt really even had a place of my own to set up a system. when i heard planet side 2 was coming out i saved up all the money the first few months this year that i could and my income tax and went overboard. i use the computer for other stuff obviously but i would of maybe fixed my car or got new paintball equipment or something instead had it not been for the word on PS2. no game has ever hit that itch the same way since. most fps games are superbly lacking in comparison, even if they do have a good feel that keeps me playing as a time waister. so now im rocking with 3 nice 24 inch screens playing games on high settings. both of which r first times in my life. i also spent 50 bucks on 4 gamepros for me and my brothers since i cant remember my old email password on account someone hacked my crap back in 2009. when planetside 2 is released i plan on putting down the regular shelf price of a game like 50/60 bucks maybe more and then im going to aim for about 20$ a month after that unless the devs drop a bomb that my impulsivenessish self can not say no to. |

I had to buy my first gaming computer to play the original PS back in 2003. Only had consoles before, but I had to have that game! Spent $1300 on a decent Alienware, cause I had no idea how easy it is to build your own.
For PS2, I'm waiting till we get close to release, then I'll drop $1500-$2000 on parts to build myself a new rig as my current one is 3 years old. |

Probably won't be upgrading anything immediately, but I've been saving up for a new rig (around $1,000, since I have a 7850 card already).
Just want to note though, this is for more than just Planetside 2, and I haven't really upgraded anything but the card and ram for like 3-4 years. |

I recently replaced a faulty CrossfireX ATI card with 2x GTX680 in SLI but this was before the PS2 hype train started moving. I'm now very happy with my choice because it looks like PS2 has Nvidia multi-GPU support!

None to date, but I'll prob upgrade the laptop to a decent one soon after I have tried PS2. Would have out down £20/$40 had I know about the station cash deal.
Im more worried about my "gaming" PC though, I have been spoilt by Valve's ability to create games that run on everything! How screwed am I gunna be? .... 24" screen q6600 @ 2.4ghz 8800gts 512mb 4gb DDR Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 |

That should run PS2 on Low with really good frame rates, or playably on Medium.
You'll be better off than I was when Planetside 1 launched. I had a 1.4 GHz single core Celeron, 512 MB RAM, and an ATI 9600 Awesome. Set everything to max, then scale back shadow and foliage quality until you get good frame rates. You'll probably stay close to maximum everything @1080 resolution.
