Maybe he wasn't hungry. When you're worried and scared like that food isn't such a priority to your mind.

My last meal would be a jug full of morphien. Heh... I wouldn't feel a thing.

While I'm talking about that, if you ever have a family member in the hospital and they put that person on a morphien drip.. stay with them. They'll die within the next few days.
