B: Farenheit 451 is NOTHING to what else is out there. Animal Farm (a short read, explains what happened in the USSR PERFECTLY) and 1984 (Ultimate Communism. My favorite book. The society becomes HELL ITSELF.) Both are by George Orwell. I've heard Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, which I've read, is also anti-Communist, but I have trouble finding it.

Bighoss, go to your local library and read Animal Farm. It's short (about 100 pages) and very good.

...You don't know me at all. I never rejoined, I've been here for a looong time. I just never post.

Welles and Huxley were both Socialist and felt that ruling shouldn't be done by the populace. Thought I'd throw that in(I've done a lot of stuff on both of them in high school, both about 1984 and BNW)

I guess Ogg has some valid argument in being happy to not know anything but what the government wants you to know. Ignorance is bliss right? Americans however grow up with the freedom of knowing the truth, and though some of it IS hidden, most is accessable. I for one would rather know the truth and accept it as part of life rather than be shielded by a blanket of false "Feel good" thoughts. Sorta the same argument with religion..but I won't go into that as people seem to drag religion debates down to flame wars within minutes.

already read both of those, I did animal farm over two study halls at school because I had no homework. Than I read 1984 afterwords in a few days.

when I meant you could create a society like F4fidy1 I was talking about how you could create a society with such a short attention span and wasn't willing to learn anything that they didn't have to. Political issues were of no concern to them in that book.
