You can save the fuzzy feelings post though, it will be more useful with the people who haven't watched favoritism at work. |

Not ANYMORE
Madcow, the moderator's trigger got itchy. Don't blame the entire community. I think the free iPod thing is a scam.

I wouldn't call it favoritism - I would call it "making friends".
You're more willing to help out a friend than you are for any random person. So, sorry you haven't made friends with us. This thread happened to come along at a time that I really wanted an iPod. The marketing for these things has been incredible and my sister has one I've been playing with. I want one. I didn't want one when you made a thread, and I don't even remember you making a thread about it. So, shuush. It isn't hypocracy, it's greed.

But when a moderator does bone up, in a community I would expect people to sack up and actually say something. I don't personally consider or 'sucks to be you' to be community minded responses. Call me strange. And Triggar, I was being quite friendly at the time. Oddly enough, examples of the community being not quite what it's cracked up to be reminded me that I'm much better off considering people I see regularly my friends. Internet and community rarely go hand in hand. |

Like I said, difference of opinion. How ignoring stupid moderators and flames when they don't impact you directly makes a community is beyond me. In Germany they came first for the Communists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the **** and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a ***. Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me--and by that time no one was left to speak up. |

Madcow, how long have you been here? For someone that hase been here since before beta, it most definatly is a community. I feel like I can trust most of the people here. That dosen't mean any random person can walk in and be a part of it. Communities form over time through friendship and respect.

Edit: Personally, I love it here, been here since the start, don't really post that much anymore since I'm a lurker at heart, but this is without a doubt one of the best communities on the net imho.
