No, not assholes. It makes sense once you think about it.

1.) It keeps most of the spammers and attackers from causing damage to the site, because it's usually not worth it to pay 10 bucks to go attack a site that will beat the shit out of you 20x as much.

2.) It's still a damn big place. If they didn't pay $10, then they'd have to alot of pop-ups to pay for the massive amounts of bandwidth used.

3.) Shmorky needs to make money just like everyone else.

yeah, theres 50,000+ members of SA. Lowtax doesnt work either, SA is his primary source of income.
