The VS want a rail-gun attachment.

I thought the Mag-cannon was a rail gun ?

That NC BFR gun was a particle canon (as in not energy based), wasn't it ? O.o

Or is it the same concept, lore-wise ? I'm not techy.

Wait, was it? I could have sworn they said NC were getting the railgun... the Mag did have one didn't it? I'm not sure then.

http://wiki.planetsidesyndicate.com/...title=Magrider
-> "Heavy Rail Beam"
-> "Pulsed Particle Accelerator"

So I guess both tech were VS ?

But then the NC did have the Gauss stuff based on huge magnets.

Edit: Yeah, the rail-beam is OUUUUUUURS !

-> "The Particle Cannon takes mass-driving to a new level, converting mass into plasmoid energy and pushing it up to relativistic speeds."

I don't think a particle can be a beam.

Multiple particles can most certainly be a beam.

Too bad BFR's arent' in PS2. Now one thing the NC are getting is a rail-style accessory attachment system for the Gauss. That's what the riidges on top of the Gauss are...

Oh, and FWIW, we VS are getting two different railguns this time, cuz we're just that awesome. Heavy one on the Mag and a Light one on the Scythe.

I just hope I can stick an LRG on my Lightning too.

it does not need to look real to deliver pain and humiliation.

Actually the more the weapons feel realistic the less are fun to shoot.
The recent trend in weapon mechanics it's just a shitty combination of muzzle flash,recoil,camera blur,slow and boring reload animations ans so on.
I guess someone will come up with rifle that jams too and faulty ammo...

bottom line: if you want realism play a Milsim like Arma, or better join the army

Frankly I could really care less how it looks. I will shoot a big brown dirty junk yard of a turd gun all day as long as it gives me at least a level playing field or a slight advantage. I am not looking at people and how there avatar appears, I am too busy shooting them in the face to really care.

At the end of the day it's about hit's on the target, effectiveness of the weapon and its balance in the greater game mechanics between factions. Anything beyond that is just gravy for the X-Box generation of (insert derogatory term here).

NC should have both railgun and coilgun ("Gauss Rifle") technology:
Both use electromagnetism to fire solid (as in the solid phase, they need not be a single piece), ferromagnetic or conductive projectiles. They're "hybrid" guns, they don't use propellant but do use projectiles. So they aren't conventional but aren't energy weapons.
But who really cares? Coil guns and rail guns do really exist but nothing the VS have does, so making up a "Rail Beam" isn't a big deal.

As far as the thread topic: People will really complain about anything, won't they?
I want a gun that behaves plausibly in recoil and accuracy, so it doesn't feel like you're shooting a random number generator. Beyond that, it can be as crazy as it wants.

Gauss is hands down the best looking weapon I've seen thus far. Vanguard is also awesome, but NC armor is the most horrible by far

I don't know what your talking about.. But have you see the NC infiltrator suit?? Are we both looking at the same thing. It is hands down the best. I can only assume our Adv. Rexo is gonna look some what similar.
