And yet they make characters very detailed. I would rather cut down character detail and use saved performance to show holstered weapons.

I was going to say...If holstered weapons are a client-side thing, why not put it in the options? Possibly with a warning of it's performance impact.

yeah, i'd agree with that... detail isn't everything, and with the massive scale combat going on around us I doubt we're going to have time to stop and tally thread counts...

I care more that i dont see what friendlies have on their back, so i dont know what i can expect from them (have they AV so we can take that MAX? ext.). On enemies its less important. Plus holstered weapons add to immersion.

There is a class system to distinguish that, but I agree, holstered weapons is a must. If you want to reduce the perfomance stress, why not limit the holstered weapon display to a certain range? I mean, without zoom there's no way of telling what that black pipe on the guy's back is in 200m distance.

If the reason is weapons not going along with camo, make camo'ed weapons, 3 weeks more, three weeks less... Although we WANTBETANEAOW, we are far more eager for the quality.

so I was in game playing a few minutes ago speeding around on my ATV trying to get to the LLU since it is impossible nowadays to get people to give him a ride. When it hit me. I would love for the ATV to have the ability to have a passenger. Maybe give the passenger the ability to still shoot their rifle. Man I think that would be fantastic.

Ill see heavy assault next to me? how i can know that he have AV and not some sort of AA or heavy gun which wont help us.

In the nanite systems podcast they said they have that idea in mind, perhaps for some deeper certed ATV drivers to be able to have a passenger, but that's still on a planning stage and they won't commit to actually implementing it

If they are not on their vehicles and you can see them...then they can see you (probably), so what they have will most likely be in their hands for you to see.

Frak everyone that says they would rather see holstered weapons than have 20% more people on the screen. Also, who here knows the capabilities of Forgelight? Don't you think that if the devs would sacrifice holstered weapons for 20% more people, they would do the same with the level of detail.

Maybe, just maybe that level of detail doesn't have an effect on the number of people on the screen because it is scalable.

Plus, with armor customization and different classes, the battlefield is not going to look boring at all. Child please.
