If the whole design is based on controllers (less buttons, constant turning rates, no keyboard) the game will be flawed on PC. That's the greatest fear - plus the inevitable "aimbot" for console players to be in par with PC gamers. It's not about their personal skill, it's their controller that makes them easy prey. Good arguments here: |

NO!
Maybe if the Playstation 5 uses mouse&keyboard by default, and Planetside 3 has been released, and there is only one server left for Planetside 2, and on that server there are only about 30 players at any given time, then it might be OK to open it up to consoles to get a few more players in the game. |

Seriously. Fuck. Consoles. They always dumb down PC games to piles of shit.
I was looking forward to BF3. Dumbed down piece of shit compared to BF2. I was looking forward to Crysis 2. Dumbed down ported piece of shit compared to Crysis 1. Graphics were also complete shit when compared to the first. Dragon Age II. Another game I was looking forward to playing, menus and UI were clearly made in mind for consoles, camera controls were horrendous, graphics were alot shittier than expected. Skyrim launched with the worst UI I have ever used in a game just because it was ported from the console. Dungeon Siege III was another highlight I was hoping to have fun on, but it was unplayable on the PC because the keyboard/mouse controls were fucked up beyond belief and was a more than obvious console port. I can keep ranting but there's too many games to cover. Anyway, KEEP PLANETSIDE AWAY FROM CONSOLES!!! They don't deserve such a game! |

Yes it would be cool to have on consoles, lots of people would probably buy it and I get to play with my non-PC gamer friends.
Should it be done? Hell NO! I'd rather have a GOOD game that has depth and quality instead of CoD-world. |

If you think you have to be planted in a crap chair next to a little screen to play a pc game then you need to realize that we have invented the wheel and fire and dont all need to play like retarded cavemen.
I sit comfortably back on either a couch or a recliner with wireless kb/mouse and could use a crappy console wireless controller if I wanted (but im not stupid) while playing on my 47" 3D flatscreen. There is no need to play on little wimpy tiny monitors anymore nor do you have to sit right next to it. You can do anything a console does and 1000x more. There's a reason my xbox isnt even hooked up anymore, its old and outdated and my pc is better in every way. So askin if it should be on console has nothin to do with sitting on a couch or controls or any of that, other than consoles will have one choice in controls while pc will have a zillion. Maybe you should ask what affect having the more gimped version would have on pc. Its more about the controls and other limits on the consoles such as massive lag in updates which means they cant play with PC owners etc. (however if its just on PS3 or PS4 then it might get updated better but if it were on xbox it would have to be seperate for sure.

Playing as infantry on consoles without any kind of aiming assist would probably put people at a major disadvantage versus PC gamers using a mouse. However, piloting vehicles would probably be fine on console. I don't know. My only real objection is when the game is made and is invariably a console-first title and later ported to PC. Often, we're left with crappy interface and clunky controls and other reminders that it's a console game. But, PS2 is clearly designed for PC first. So... I guess, if the developers were willing, I'd be fine with it coming to consoles provided it wouldn't require any dumbing-down of game systems to make them more accessible to people using a controller.

Propably said this already, but just need to say it again:
If Planetside 2 is coming out for the PS3, then we are out. And with we i mean most of the PC gaming crowd, because we HATE CONSOLE PORTS! But, no worrys. Its not coming for a console. Its PC only, no PS3 or anything in sight. |

I think it's hilarious that someone would ask if the sequel to a PC-only title was going to be released on consoles. At least on a forum for the original. Does no one know what huge dicks PC elitists are?

Console MMO's are not very realistic without sacrificing many of the basic MMO functionality. Using advance algorithms, I found that the standard key board has over 40 or more keys, compared to 15 or so buttons on a controller. That being said, we also take into count that the mouse is much more accurate then any control will ever be. Thus a semi-guided auto aiming system would have to be implemented, and cry's of thousands of players begin, because of a unfair advantage consoles would have over PC's.

If the game could run on this generation of consoles then Planetside 2 sucks, simple as really. The current gen consoles cannot handle the amount of people Planetside 2 should be having in one single area.
Have to wait and see for the next gen of consoles but they wont be out till 2014 and Planetside 2 will be an old game by then and will look so dated compared to what games will look like then. I still think they should have gone for the TF2 art direction because that game still looks amazing. |

Sorry I'm a little late to the party, but I agree with this statement. I think it would be great to see PS2 on the upcoming consoles (which are surely going to be more powerful than the lowest margin of PCs that can run the game). It goes without say that PC and consoles should be separate, and that the console shouldn't hold the PC development back. I don't think gameplay experience would not get diminished at all; mouse and keyboard are not crucial to the gameplay like it is in say.. unreal tournament. In fact, I think the vehicle gameplay would be much more enjoyable. |

Well PS2 allready has this useless, additional ADS stance which originated from console shooters. This game also would be a pretty damn good thing to show off what a new console can do.
Sony is making a new console, this game is developed by SOE...they might be up to something. |
