Re: Are you cancelling you SOE subscription due to the recent news?

This poll is flawed, it should have 4 options:

No EU
Yes EU

No US
Yes US

As I can imagine a lot of the yes's are from the US who will still be under the crazy illusion that Planetside2 is going to be anything like Planetside 1. you can trust SOE as much as we cant trust ProS.1

If you split PS1 player base right now what would you have? 30 people on the server. Work it out, the 3 year plan is a money making plan nothing more. The game will be dead after that. It cant survive today requirements for Outfits/Clans running with blocked ip's. Other games like SC2 or WOW or LOL can as they are NOT MMO FPS's with 333 people on each side.

I want to play Planetside2 so bad, but I also wanted to play it with my current Outfit Azur Twilight, and it seem I can not. Instead I have to join or make a new one.

Another point is the massive amount of project I have got going on regarding this one game. I recently purchased the URL>> PlanetsideTV.com, this show how dam fucking interested I was in this game, far more than some of you folks make out. but how can I run a PS2 internet TV channel for a community that will be split in half???

All the hard work I have put in recently has been thrown out the window by SOE. And no its not just because of the news, its because it has ruined my plans to help PS2. They have fucked me over and didnt even ask my opinion. Also everything I was doing was to make the PS community better. And you wonder why Im fucking pissed!!!

I know this is an incredibly simplified view of what's going on, but this is honestly how some of this sounds to me.

Example follows:

A twelve year-old and his similarly aged friend are playing tag. One arbitrarily says that the other must go play with 'kids like himself.' Twelve year-old has two options.

1.) "Screw you, I quit" *goes to sulk*
2.) "Screw you, and I will outlogic and out-argue you by whatever means necessary until you see and recognize how wrong you are."

Apply this situation.

Again, I REALLY am not trying to troll anyone. I get the arguement. Friends are involved, and the right of choice is involved. I SUPPORT THAT. but honestly, reacting with option one is childish and unproductive. Option 1 is why GOVERNMENTS get to do what they want, because people do the least possible and then sit back in anger, rather than getting angry and doing something PRODUCTIVE.

No, but the Chinese market requires a different publisher as the language and cultures are that different.

However, even then we wern't told they would be locked into their own region completely. Even if we may expect something like that would be the case because of Chinese internet censoring and laws. Plus, they did that segregation before they were joined with Markov, after which they didn't integrate as strongly as other servers. The majority of CN played almost segregated from the rest of us, even when playing PS on the same server. The language barrier was the main cause of that.

Well I'm a living contradiction to what you are saying because I played on Emerald from my very first day.

You're right that initially it was because I "had to", but I made friends there and became part of a community there.

So it's probably only a fair comparison for those that were forced to do so and probably only kept within their own community.

I think that's what they're going for.

Keep faith. I know I sound particularly pessimistic tonight but I'm still confident, even if the worst comes to the worst and there are IP locks in place, we'll find a way round them. I'm sure guys like Francko and Nobel will be doing likewise with AT. If someone in DT does come up with a solution when the time comes, I'll make sure we let as many people know who want it.

No, it's a valid point because lets face it, most EU players played on Werner until Gemini was the only option.
Most of the guys I played with on Werner had multiple accounts and we would switch servers (Emerald) to constantly be in prime time. You would be amazed how many other Werner players did this even when the servers had high pop (2004)

Time to pack it in Morto. We appreciate everything up to this point, you had a fine run.

Just delete your PSU account and remove yourself from the whole situation. You don't need to antagonize over it any more.

Planetside 2 is dead to you, so you don't have any reason to stick around the fansite, or at the very least the PS2 portion of it.

We're gonna miss you.

I think that's what they're going for.
The unfortunate part about doing that is that they no longer NEED to care about you anymore at this point. If you give up on them, then you have no more relevance to them either...

I didn't say EVERYONE, but let's be honest with ourselves here. It was mostly Werner.

The question is whether "outlogic-ing" and outarguing them are actually productive. They've said they're listening, but that's irrelevant if they're going to go ahead regardless. Like I said before, if our opinions can't change their minds, then money is the only thing that talks.

This isn't the first time we've been treated badly and there comes a point where picking up your ball and going home is the only thing they might take notice of.

Nothing to cancel, I've been exempt from the subscription for quite some time now, no I won't go into details. However cancelling your subscription will have no effect on the outcome of the proposed region blocking. What we should be doing is expressing our deepest desire for this to not happen(emails, facebook, twitter; places where the issue will gain lots of publicity and SOE has no control over moderation), while creating/discovering all the possible ways to circumvent any regional segregration that may be present come release, should our worst fears become a reality.

Please go back and read my first reply to the thread. As someone who has been on the opposite side of this kind of PR backlash, the most productive thing you can do is to reach their account retention/cancellation supervisor. A very quick, very effective way of doing that is by committing your convictions to print on the exit questionnaire when you cancel your subscription. In fact I'd go so far as to say it's the most effective way an individual can make a company hear their dissatisfaction. They hold meetings and have spreadsheets detailing that feedback - trust me.

My cancellation of my subscription was in no way a knee-jerk or petulant act.
