PSU: I have a feeling that Captain Planet would not approve.

Is it just me, or do the TR and NC look rather similar to each other? Especially when in comparison to the VS? I guess they've already checked this, but I could see it being hard to distinguish (quickly) a friend from foe; given that most of the uniform is a similar color...

They all look really good.
Thoughts: I love that the goggles are being kept in (even though they look a bit silly). In fact, I think each 'eye-wear' chosen fits the factions quite well. The NC visor looks like it was cut weird at the bottom. It kinda looks like it needs some sort of molding/border around the nose area. The models look really good and detailed - well done. The environments look really good. I like seeing something other than sand. There is a funny-looking building/tower in the background of the TR screenshot. I wonder what it is? Have we seen that before? Do towers on different continents have different styling. O.o Also: TR=Bugs, VS=Fish, NC=???

like I'm ever going to vote against the TR, it's not that I'm prejudice, far from it it just happens that TR have better everything, Ze goggles zay RULE!, tho I hope we gets lots of customizable versions
lol just wanted to make a small point about the VS visor, kinda looks like one of those black out lines employed by cheap censors/editors to fail to disguise someone in a picture, Mr Jonathan Franks from 123 street, that house with the garden gnomes at the end of the road, Surrey spoke to us under condition of anonymity, pictured above. still said and done, they all look great. all the little details like buttons, tears, fabrics, plating, armor scratchs really just give such a great depth to them.

Looking good! Loving the design of everything so far though I feel sorry for the bug-eyed TR
Also, despite looking cool, the VS visor looks like they put black bar across his eyes to hide his identity! Was it for being too awesome? |

I've said it before, but the TR and NC really look too similar when you compare them to how distinctive the VS are. They both look almost alternate-reality instead of futuristic...They both have modern-looking armour plates and relatively modern-looking clothes, but then you have these incredibly alien looking VS that don't seem to fit in at all. I think the TR and NC need to be made to look more distinctive from each other, because stylistically it's not TR/NC/VS, it's TR+NC/VS.
But then, having said that, even when TR and NC are distinct, as with the cloaking suits or air cav, the VS look incredibly out of place. You can tell that the MBTs are all descendents from Planetside for instance, because they look alright next to each other, but then you look at the aircav or the cloak suits lined up, and you can tell that the VS' are brand new while the NC's and TR's are related to their Planetside counterparts. Edit: Individually though, I can see all the light assault looking really good once people have upgrade them from being grey blobs. Last edited by Vancha; 2012-02-28 at 04:26 PM. |

i think i will build a nc light assault helmet.
maybe i have some spare self-made x-wing helmets somewhere in the attic. should be kind of easy to modify one of them, they look quite similar will wait for release to see if the rest of the armor is also easy to make

The NC picture is at least likely to be a whole different continent, but the VS + TR pic might just have the same continent, but from different areas, like the VS pic area might be more tank oriented area with open spaces.
But theres also the worst case scenario where it's all just one continent, but one end of Indar just has some foliage while the other end is good ol desert.

I'm a die hard TR. Thinking of going VS. Visuals!
Did anyone read the PC Gamer article? The author Evan Lahti spent some time with them and i quote "SOE is unwilling to hint at a release or beta date, but I'd confidently say PS2 is a 2013 game on the basis that there's still so much to be done." I know if i have to wait another year for the release even though i have a beta key. I think my heart with stop from anticipation. |

Isn't that the point, though? VS have supposed technological superiority gained from alien technology unrelated to our own. It should look significantly different from things developed from our "tech tree" so to speak. NC and TR look plenty different from each other on their own. VS looks alien to both. I think it's working as intended.
