The colors in the first shot really pop. I'm so used to playing all these "modern" games where the palette is all brown. Nice change of pace, for sure.

I think you're pretty close. My bet would be specific capture points (or hack terminals). Higby has mentioned that bases will have multiple capture points, so it looks like this particular tech plant has 6 objectives that need to be completed before you can claim it.

I'm fairly sure they also mentioned that various objectives would disable certain parts of the base, like unlocking blast doors further inside or powering down the outer shields.

Also note that the capture point icons in the pic above are green.

I'd say the Vanu symbol next to the base name means that they currently hold the base, and the green color notates either Vanu coloration (maybe red for TR and blue for NC) or it could just mean green = yours, red = theirs.

Green could also mean neutral.

IIRC they said at GDC (or in one of the interviews) that you only need to hold the majority of points to capture a base, not get all the points. They also said that there would be 3 inside the base, and 3 around the outside areas, so it won't flip until one faction holds 4/7.

Also those talking about no warpbubble, Arclegger said in IRC yesterday its only off because its unfinished, there will be a bubble again.

Mao tech plant?

I don't give a flying bleep what they call it in Chinaside, but that had better not be the name of it in our version.

I doubt it because there's a Vanu symbol right next to the base name. There's no way that baby's neutral!

Lol. Really, Knocky?

Okay, you're probably just trolling, but in case you were being serious: Mao is the region name, i.e. the sector of the continent that the tech plant resides in.

The scale of the tech plant is awesome. I just counted and there are 10 people in that screenshot, counting T-Ray. And it's so big you can't see any of them!

Wowser!

Seems the scale of the map is immensely. I wonder how long it takes to go from one corner to the other corner on foot...

Agreed. I've mentioned before that I love the art direction the game is taking, and I'll say it again.

It's beautiful. Popping the blues out on the warpgate give it the sci fi feel it deserves. IMO similar things should be done with the bases during the daytime to emphasize that even more. Perhaps somewhat like the color ribbon that bases had to indicate who owned them?

The terrain palette in general also looks great and the contrast it makes with the greys/silvers/yellows of the bases palettes makes the bases look very outlandish, rugged and foreign on Auraxis. something that the original game missed.
