same for me, first game made a huge impression on me years ago and my whole interest in gaming just keeps declining the closer we go to beta. Only game I want to play now is PS2, I'd rather watch other people play it than play something myself.

I've kept silent for a while. I've first played Planetside about a month after its release. Every once in a while I pop my head in and play but to be honest I'm really excited about this game.
Planetside is the only MMO and FPS I've really enjoyed. Being an old Amry vet, I appreciate the esprit de corps that no other FPS or MMO can offer. Planetside encourages teamwork to work towards a goal much larger than yourself. I think it will be a hit. Some friends of mine that are FPS players are wanting to ditch their PS2s and Xboxes for PCs because of Planetside 2. I'm glad that Higby, T-Ray and their crew are taking their time in developing this game to ensure a lot of polish and to live up to the hype. So far I think you guys have done a spectacular job and you can only hope the finished product will be phenomenal. |

The game doesn't need to be the biggest thing ever. It has to have a nice, long, effectively monetized tail. That's what keep them running it and us playing it.
. . . and hopefully the front end of that beta curve doesn't shatter it . . . |

I can tell you right now that Planetside 2 will be one of the best games of all time.. Not because of the amazing, jaw dropping graphics. Not because of the massive scale of this game or the epic battles that are going to take place.. Not any of that... It has to do with the development team, this game is going to be one of the greatest games of all time because of people like Higby, and all of the staff working on ps2. I know that they put the community first, which is almost unheard of in games today.
I have never looked forward to a games beta so much... Let alone the release. Ever in my life.. And it because of what the staff at ps2 is doing. Last edited by Fear; 2012-06-02 at 05:48 AM. |

Assuming they don't add another map in the first year and only *25% of the player-base is online at any given time. SOE would need 750 shards to handle this many players. Amazing.. That's allot of server shards.
If they update to 10 maps, 225 shards. If they update to 10 maps and only 9,000,000 players actually play the game SOE will still need 113 shards. If the game tanks, and only 1,000,000 players enjoy the wonders of PS2, they will probably not increase map count by much, lets say 5 total. The number of shards needed would be about 3 Now..to put this into perspective. Planetside 1 ran quite a few years only having 3 shards. *Made up low-ball number, and all numbers prior to and henceforth are total bullshit |

It definitely has potential. If it has a good enough launch and can keep players in (recent MMO's have a trend of losing subscribers fast, but that's another story), then it has every reason to be very successful.
