For the love of all things sacred, people, calm down. They've been saying for weeks now that vets are getting in before priority key holders. I got my key when they were giving them out on facebook during E3. So we have to wait a bit longer to get into the game. So what? It's eventually going into open beta anyway! Besides, this is the FIRST DAY. There's likely going to be a lot of downtime with the servers due to possible issues.
Just relax. Take a chill pill and purchase Red Orchestra 2 off of Steam to pass the time until you get in. Just be patient, like I am. |

It should have just been RNG between vets, inactive subs and keys. You would have a good mix of players and a good mix of feedback, now all they will have is a bias towards making it just like the original. And man look at all those "vets" that just bought the game over the weekend as well. If they were smart they would have let all us key holders push up ahead in the line by pre-ordering so much station cash to be spent in the store. |

You have any clue how many real vets, ppl playng ps1 before this "buy and go in the beta" bullshit. those long time subscribers really should get in(after all they really love the game), but if they put all those real vets in it wont fill 2 servers. Last edited by selmu; 2012-08-06 at 07:08 PM. |

iam not a vet, i havnt played ps1 at all, i hope to get in soon - ive had an all access pass once. and i have to rant :
the amount of people who DEMAND to be let into a CLOSED BETA or feel offended by NOT BEEING IN ON DAY 1 of a STAGED ACCESS is ridiculous, just the same amount of crying ive seen on the SWTOR staged early game access. you lots are a sad bunch, you deserve NOTHING. you dont want to test at all, you just fancy playing , and for this you deserve to be left out today Not to mention that its been common knowledge by now that twitter keys and such come in as last. And no you dont deserve the same access rights as a ps1 vet who played and payed for years. They made planetside popular, they get in first, stop crying just because little toddler tony didnt get his toy. |

The people who bought the game last week and this morning SHOULD NOT have been in today. Thats a pure money maker right there, and I dont know a way to deny that. |

Nice. I just purchased Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity during the Steam sale and have been playing that. It's the first strategy game I've played in a while. I'm trying to learn how to play the Advent. I suck at RTS's, but I still enjoy the hell out of 'em for some reason.

You know what would be cool, if people that played Planetside 1 first and who signed up for beta first got in earlier than people who signed up 1 day ago? That would be fair. But not possible unless someone made a program that went through their server and sorted by date joined. And that sounds hard to me who is doing first year computer science

Yeah they made it so popular I mean they had one whole server running these last couple years, and there are web series and cartoons that have been made recently on how popular it is. Seriously, its a fucking game, just because you played it longer really means jack squat. Ask Smed or Higby if this game is being made, and all this money being spent just to keep the same amount of players as ps1. Guess what if every vet left, and it was all new players, they wouldn't give two shits. They only see money, they are a business first. I don't care that I didn't get in, they are not being very smart not trying to pull a bunch of new players in right now. They made it free 2 play to pull in as many new players as possible as well. If this game gets popular you "vets" are going to be out numbered very quickly. And when that happens, be ready for a push back on devs trying to cater to one group or another. |

I know what you are saying. Those people who have been drinking coke for 20 years CAN go in and drink the coke in the factory, if they are invited to come into the taste-testing and quality assurance area, where their feed back is taken and is much appreciated, (this is assuming that coke wants to remain in the same direction/recepe that it has for all of these years), because their tastes and preferrences could be used as a measure of how close the recipe is staying to the original Coke-tastic formula. Someone who drinks mountain dew, or Perrier or dear I say...WATER, would give feedback that would taint the coke flavor and marre the name of Cokedom.
If they were making a new product/flavor of coke, then maybe inviting a more diverse consumer base- a NEWER consumer base, into the taste-testing and quality assurance area might be more expediant to the company's plans. In the case of PS2, vets input is highly valued, and I have to praise them for this, as most other companies just screw over their original fanbase: gamers who knew them first and supported them when they weren't known at all. EDIT: I'm not vouching for a reskinned PS1- infact, I think most vets aren't either. From reading and others account, people are aware of all the issues that plagued the first one, and are willing to accept changes that would make the game better, -but not COMPROMISES that would make the game worse. The vets know the game better, so they would be able to point out where the pitfalls for those compromises would be; you and I would not. Last edited by brighthand; 2012-08-06 at 07:35 PM. |
