Depends what server you are on, but on Matherson I haven't encountered a whole lot. Sure, I've encountered a few 'would-be' aim-botters, but there's no way to prove it and they could just be really (really) good, but beyond that nothing stood out. However on another server (I forget which, but I have a Vanu there) I've seen MANY NC using a form of speed-hack. It's almost exclusively NC using it (took a couple screenshots of some of the guys warping around as best I could but wasn't recording), and when I asked the group of people with me what I just saw... they all agreed it was a speed hack and that the NC had been abusing them more and more on that server with several people saying they got "owned" by people using that hack the day prior. If you see a guy 'lagging' left and right rapidly appearing and disappearing about 6-feet each pop, that's just someone with a speed hack strafing left and right while they shoot you. I found this surprising. Personally I think the hacking potential in the game right now is really crazy - if you have no intention of giving a crap about long-term play in this game, it's basically a hacker's wet-dream. The potential drama of everything and ability to just make a new account for free and near-infinite targets should make any hacker froth at the mouth. They really need to tie 'all' accounts (even the completely 'free' accounts) to credit cards so they have a finite-number of character creations. Sure, some people would get scraped off the top, but I'd think they would try to do this for thier own bottom-line as a tool to help reduce the inevitable chinese-cert-farmers that are bound to come (who will probably be selling characters online with 100000 certs for 30 dollars that they cheated to produce.) P.S. Spending 90% of your game time in a tank is neglecting about 90% of the fun this game has to offer, go out and explore the world instead of sweating it out in your iron shell. Had a TR player yesterday own the living shit out of me. I was dead very quickly anytime I ran into him. The times I did have eyes on him it seemed he would quickly strafe left to right and about a second later I was dead. Every time I ran into him. Is that an aim bot + speed hack? Or is the guys just really good at what he does? Never seen anyone do this except this TR guy.

Maybe there are heaps o' hackers, but I also believe there are heaps of bugs and server issues.
I regularly fly as Lib crew with a friend, and we fairly often have "unexplained" deaths, where we hear 2 or 3 impacts and then we suddenly explode. Killscreen shows 1 or mebbe 2 damage dealers with their combined % being below 50%. One instance last night there was only 1 damage dealer listed who did 23%, perhaps the other 77% was due to adverse weather... Some of these can be explained by being rammed (intentionally or unintentionally), because those deaths often don't show the real cause on the killscreen. I guess I could blame these seemingly strange deaths on hacking, but it's far more likely that it's a bug of some sort. A bug like the "bleeding wound" damage on a Liberator, where you get into a permanently bugged state, taking constant damage every tick, except when you are inside the warpgate dome. The only cure is to destroy the Lib. Or the bug where 2 people in squad both jump out to repair. The person who was gunner last jumps in first, ending up in the pilot seat. The Lib then 'twitches', insta-killing the squad member outside. Happened to us at least once an hour, until we started co-ordinating boarding via voice chat. Last night we attacked a solitary AA turret on a base wall. He returned fire and we took evasive measures. But he kept hitting us, long after we had broken LoS. Was he hacking or were we still perfectly visible on HIS screen, even when he was out of sight from OUR viewpoint ? How anyone can definitively categorise something they "see" on their screen as hacking is a bit of a puzzle to me. No doubt there are hackers, I'd be even more puzzled if there weren't any, but at this point things are still so shaky that it's hard to pinpoint the reason for some of the odd things I see ingame. |

I haven't seen any blatant cheaters on Miller as of yet. I have run into some players who have an abnormal accuracy, reflexes and seem to be snapping. Hard to tell sometimes with the server issues and latency, also not all cheaters are all that obvious about using aim bots.

Had a cloaker yesterday pick me off at Vanu Archives three times while I was spawning inside the spawn room.
The First two I thought it was just a bug or I was lagging, the third time it was confirmed that it was neither because he picked me off then six of my outfit all standing inside the spawn room. I moved out of the spawn room after spawning, and tested, I didnt go down, but the five guys that stayed in the spawn room all died. Same guy every time, we tested it multiple times. He was able to shoot people while they where in the spawn room. Last edited by LexDecon; 2012-12-03 at 02:11 PM. |

Oh yeah, there is one more potential cheat I saw. The first couple days I spent on infiltrator since it seemed like a nice way to sort of "observe" how people played the game and educate myself on some class mechanics, and I saw a guy have the ability to perma-cloak.
I don't want to jump to conclusions, so does the "Hunter cloaking device" certification have this functionality when fully certed out? I was under the impression it only recharged faster when not in use after watching some youtube videos on it, but I could be mistaken. There is only one person I've seen do this, though, obviously, it wouldn't be an easy thing to catch in general - but there was a cloaker on the 'rim' of one of the bio-domes. I pod-dropped directly behind him, and he was on my team so I didn't shoot. He cloaked and started making a run around the rim, I cloaked and followed (trying to stick together). My cloak wore off, and his was still on, I just assumed he had certifications to extend the duration of the cloak. When my cloak recharged all the way I triggered it again, and again my cloak eventually wore out and he was still cloaked... at this point I was like Jeeze, i gotta get those certs. After the third time I ended up dying (he was still cloaked running circles around the place) so I immediately looked into the cloaking certs only to find that no such extended-duration cloak cert existed... I ran into an aimbotting cloaker last night, who was firing on people while still cloaked.
He was standing in a corner where bad guys were running by and just picking us off one by one with instant rapid fire head shots from his little semi automatic sniper rifle. IllusionRJ was his name. I called him a hacker and he logged. Lol. |

I thought I didn't see any, but there was this fight 3 days ago on Esamir where I was in a tank and we parked it in the middle of nowhere behind a building and were slowly taking damage so we got out. I started healing it while my friend tried to figure out where it was coming from. It was continuous and non-stop for like 30 seconds until I gave up healing and just stepped back and it exploded. There was no sound of it taking damage either. Thought maybe it was a bug, but since we don't know who killed the tank (we weren't in it) we were clueless as to what caused it. Could have been someone testing out an aim bot for a liberator tailgun or something based on the damage.

Its going to be a slow, maybe pointless, process of removing them if they are just relying on people reporting them.
Not all reports are about people hacking. Those suspected of breaking the naming convention are reported. Suspected exploiters are reported. Even fuckwits who spend the evening ramming and flipping aircraft in the warp gate are reported, like SpartanN10. The current report system has no way to distinguish what is being reported. Those SOE guys that Smeds tweeted about, who's purpose in life is to ban the bad guys, are not going to know wtf the report was for. Smeds is basically admitting that's the only method they have atm, the reactive one. It might even be claimed as a great success as the reports dry up because players cbf logging in because of the increasing hacking. And lets not forget those that have exploited/hacked for the first two weeks to milk the lack of any detection and now cruise along like nothing has happened. Immune to any punishment as they have achieved their goal and now play on like the rest. It was one of the biggest issues that worried players and SOE said they had it covered. As yet, they don't. |

I've had vehicles lost without any message as to who destroyed it if I was out repairing it.
It should tell the owner. There are times when you get no mention of the character that killed you in the death screen, just the weapon used. |
