I'm not sure about BF4 at all. Currently the open beta has frequent lag spikes (the ones where your stable fps of seventy drops below twenty for 1-2 seconds), not to mention that 50% of the participants can't get past the loading screen... I guess, I'll be buying the game only after I tried the release version somehow.

As for PS2 - it's not, nor is going to be my game to play for quite a while. My problem with it is it's a 24/7 threeway on all continents, which gets boring really fast, and very poor facility designs aimed at quake-like combat. I'm afraid that by the time these things change (if they change at all), the game's pop will convert to PS1 2006 state.

(Although I will try the game after the optimization patch. Actually this is going to be the deciding factor on whether I will wait for these core changes on PS2 or abandon it as a whole)

Just goes to show the demographic PS2 was aimed at, right? Oh how I miss the old days. PS1 was so much more epic.

Won't be taking a break for BF4. But I have cancelled the sub and am breaking for a couple months because of Planetside 2. Can't say I'm really bothering to play much at all any more.

I also realized the optimization patch for me, will end up being much of anything new or exciting on my end.

So I'll come back in a couple months and see what's new. Hopefully they will have released more content by then.

Will be taking a break from PS2 for BF4. Once BF4 gets stale and some interesting stuff has happened in PS2 (forever the optimist) I may come back but just generally feeling burnt out of PS2.

I don't think it'll be that bad. This thing's free. THAT thing wasn't. I think many are going to lurk in the background knowing they can hop back on board without spending a penny.
I have hopes in 6 months that this will be quite a different game experience.
