Clearly, I have missed the point of outfits, but whether I get it or not, I'm not joining one because there is zero reason to do so. I hang out on mumble with my friends from EVE or DayZ or the old WoW or WAR guys and shoot the shit while I play Planetside. I have the capability to read the map and read Orders chat so I know where help is needed, so I take myself there.

I still find outfit gameplay pretty much a waste of time, simply because of the open-ended and fast paced gameplay, I dont want to cap something just to lose it in the next 15 minutes.
Also capturing empty bases is boring as hell We need gen-hold, ant runs, whatever to make outfit play more appealing. Last edited by Vashyo; 2013-03-06 at 01:45 PM. |

Assist and I both play on Waterson. What if we started an outfit for all the Vanu soloers on Waterson. Would the fact that we have an outfit tag next to our name make you super space soldiers happier?

You would have to ask the "super space soldiers" as I'm sure many of people don't really care what you do. Some just don't get it, at least not for the reasons stated. For most i would imagine, Joining up with an outfit you can fit with completely changes the game for the better.
You see a lot of evidence of this when new players finally find an outfit that fits them. To each his own. Last edited by MrBloodworth; 2013-03-06 at 01:57 PM. |

"To each his own" is being used like "no offense" in this thread. Last edited by Mastodon; 2013-03-06 at 01:58 PM. |

To each his own, is because its a subjective choice. You on the other hand have presented joining a outfit is some sort of mental deficiency. That's ridiculous. Last edited by MrBloodworth; 2013-03-06 at 02:01 PM. |

I myself have joined an outfit, but do play solo at times. It all depends on my mood. If there are some good battles going on where my outfit isn't, it doesn't do any harm in foregoing the outfit platoon to bring up my kd ratio a bit .

If you play Planetside intelligently, watch orders chat, check the map, understand basic tendencies of the opposing factions you can play perfectly fine without being in an outfit. If people want to be in an outfit, more power to them. Those of us that don't shouldn't be viewed as a "growing problem" because we choose to operate independently of the all-powerful, super-elite outfits. I argue this because thus far in my planetside career, I've only seen two outfits that actually make a difference. The Enclave and Azure Twilight. When either one of those outfits shows up, you know you're in for a world of shit. Other than those, I can't honestly say that I've ever noticed an outfit accomplishing anything that a bunch of randoms can't. Last edited by Mastodon; 2013-03-06 at 02:14 PM. |

Last post as I have been asked not to post anymore.
Mastodon, I agree with much that you say in the last post. I Feel the same way as to the meta layer of Planetside. I'm sure you can read a map. We truly do not differ that much in thees regards. I also have agreed many times in this very thread, its premise is ridiculous. Solo players are a non issue. With a possible caveat that in any online game, Outfits, guilds ETC, have been shown to increase retention though the bonds they create. And in that regard, I think people are missing out on something that can enhance their game time. I also have stressed, there are so many outfits and groups, that using a few of the more notorious to label all of them is wrong. Sure, finding a group in ANY game is always a trial and error proposition. But I don't think it should stop people from trying to find a group to mesh with, it does nothing but help IMO. And all that is a FAR cry from "I'm to bad ass to be in an outfit". |

If Mastodon is squad lead tonight, we will follow him. Because every squad lead deserves that. And when its your turn, you get that same level of respect. Its 100% there to curtail people who love to say an order is stupid, they wont follow it, because they are smarter, but they won't lead because they are too awesome. Those people are not fun, and not fun to play with. fin |

Mastodon would never be squad lead. I've had my run at running guilds, squads, raids, etc., and that's how a game turns into a job. When a game turns into a job, I stop playing. That and I have a ridiculously bad tunnel vision problem.
