Master of Orion 2 (I've spent hundreds of hours playing this game, it is insane)
Tribes 2 (fast pace, awesome) Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries (It hasn't aged as well as Tribes 2 and MoO2 did, but it's still awesome) The Half Life Series (and the Portal Series) Counter Strike (the whole series) |

Non-MMO games?
Shogun: Total War - Find the original version, no Warlord edition, no xpack with difficulty nerf. Campaign mode on highest difficulty. Best RTS. Mount & Blade - early alpha versions, bare bones, free roaming, with excellent horse archery mechanics populated with scary mobs like the uberaccurate Khergits and the terrifying Dark Knights |

Normally, I don't post in threads like this, but I was actually talking about something very similar to this earlier.
Portal Civ 2 SC 3000 Street Rod 2 Half Life 2 I thought I'd like more of the games I played as a kid more than I do. But man, games really have gotten damn good. (C&C, Planetside and MS Space Simulator are tied for a super close 6th)
