Old Oshur for PS1 vets to gather at and have picnics and ice cream socials and knife fights...

The best reward will be to finally get to play the game.
I'm guessing that was a joke.
What ever movie/story it was attached to, flew right over my head. (if it was one, seemed like it was)

But yeah.

A zone that only PS1 vets can enter breaks the society in half.
Either your part of the in-crowd or the newb crowd?
I hate when development teams do stuff like that.

I think we can all agree on PS1 vets getting the ability to run around in costumes.

TR = Po from the tellitubbies. Or however those are spelled.

NC = Smurf

VS = Barney

I guess I should have thrown a 'just kidding' in there. Being serious though, anything more than something cosmetic on your armor like an emblem would probably be too much.

best reward for any veteran is a non-crippled, solid planetside experience.
I don't need anything else

When I started the thread I thought it should be fairly obvious that - as with any other sequel - veteran rewards would be limited to an icon by your name and a minor cosmetic piece that you can't otherwise buy. I think we ALL want an amazing sequel, and we'd all be happy with just that, but a minor freebie cosmetic is just a 'thanks for playing' thing - that's all.

With that in mind and having thought about it a little myself... A beret, rank insignia or helmet with a uniquely coloured visor all sound like good options.

I don't think we 'deserve' anything, however if they wanted to throw the vets 10 bucks worth of in game shwag then I'd certainly accept it, lol.

or a Pentacorn... unicorns are so 10 min ago.

This.

Vets don't deserve anything, like, nothing is owed to us. At the same time, it wouldn't be unfair to give vets something nice (assuming it didn't mess with game balance in any way).

My vote is classic armor/weapons.

Maybe not even all of them, but like two free tickets, one for any classic armor of your choosing and one for any classic weapon model of your choosing.

Maybe the tickets could stay valid indefinitely, in case they didn't have the specific classic armor/weapon you wanted at launch, but planned to add them later.

Vets sure don't deserve anything.

On the other hand, they stuck with PS and SOE for years. In addition, some would also point that PS players have felt neglected over years and years.

And yet, here they are... Ready to jump back into PS2, ready to reform the old alliances, ready to fight for their empires !

It's a given that PS2 actually being in development is already a dream come true for vets but what all this thread really is about is this simple yet very meaningful thing:
a little recognition from SOE.

Vets are emotionally attached to PS. They spent a large amount of time playing that game and this game was intense. Playing PS with an outfit meant a lot of dedication and involvement. Living through those victories and defeats with your team added depth to what may look like just a game. All the frustration from no development and what looked like a lack of consideration marked a lot of the player base. If you stuck around for so long, your involvement must have been like one of a love/hate relationship.

A little recognition for all those players who stuck with SOE through those 10 years and their attachment to PS means a lot. It's also why they are "vets".

And they don't ask for anything. They want meaning.

Stop making this thread something it isn't supposed to be.

It's just sort of traditional in online games that players get recognised for having played other online games in the same series - it costs the publisher little-to-nothing, does no harm, and makes people feel valued.

It isn't an arselicking competition. If people get nothing, they get nothing - and it's fine - but assuming there is a little freebie gift, what would you enjoy?

Honestly, do I need something, no. If I don't get anything I wont complain it's not really important.

But something cosmetic is always welcome and appreciated. A ton of games do that in some form when they create sequels or things like that. Maybe a simple thing would be a badge you can show on your profile online similar to how BF3 profiles on Origin show which previous Battlefield games you played.

It doesn't need to be crazy but I think it would be really awesome to see the Devs do something.

Name Reservation. Now thats an idea.

Yep, this is what I agree with. It's really not too big a deal either way, but it would be nice.

Transferring medals or some other aspect of past characters is a fun idea also. Like a little bit of shared history, despite PS2 being a reboot.

I just want my classic orange tinted visor for my Agile/Light Assault armor though. I don't even mind if the rest of the Light Assault armor looks more like PS1 or PS2, but that orange tint was perfection. That's why the classic armor idea appeals to me personally.

That visor was probably 20% of the reason why I decided to play VS in the first place

I'd enjoy a merit or a little icon next to the name on the stats menu that people will see when they look at your profile. Nothing too fancy or obnoxious necessary.

The main drawback I see with cosmetic bonuses is that you need to equip them for others to see you're a vet and this may prevent you from using other cosmetic items if you are really attached to equipping your <insert vet cosmetic item here>.

Concerning customization packs offering "classic" PS1 items, I definitely love the idea but not as a vet reward.
