Really all I can think up would be the Na'vi from Avatar for NC... and that's about it... and it's not really even derogatory :/

If the TR compare to anything , it would be more like the British Empire during Queen Victoria's reign , or the USA more recently. In their own minds their way is pure and bring the full force of the military down on those getting in the way. Anyone disagreeing is a terrorist or threat and added onto the 'conquer' list. Depends which side of the fence as to what view you take.
Remember the colonial rebels of the Americas were deemed terrorists by the then British Overlords.
Think of the NC 'freedom fighters' as the wall street multimillionaires , mafia , union officials, mercenaries , and weapon dealers as rising up to overthrow the current US government voted by the people , simply because the treasury had the ordacity to ask them to pay their fair share of taxes.

tbh I haven't fully decided yet.
