It may be a pretty useless thread, considering what we do already know about Planetside 2, as well as what we don't know, however your posts here have been about equally as useless. At least the OP was attempting to contribute something to the discussion, even if it wasn't very valid. You've contributed nothing but your own flavor of whining and bitching and general trolling. |

but yeah so i just want to make sure that they remove this from an unreleased game that i've never played even though i have no idea if you can jump in this game and even though devs said it would be fine already. Sincerely, Xyntech Crybaby and male nurse extraordinaire "i still breast feed" " |

The befits of stamina allow you to limit the frequency players can use abilities and help reduce/prevent stacking. It is also true that techniques like bunny hopping are explained to not work.
However because the same players that bunny hop are the ones who pay close attention to game mechanics (or know those who do) we can assume the vast majority will be educated in this. but if "bunny hopping" does return we need to avoid the re-use of stamina, unlimited sprint/jump may be 'unrealistic' but in a world as big as planet side, it would just drive anyone stuck foot slogging nuts! (consider a sniper moving to a distant position to create a crossfire,** if it takes too long he'll get board and steal your kills ** wink **) |

Stamina was used in PS1 as pretty much just a catch all pool of regenerating power. It sounds like PS2 is going to be more along the lines of being able to sprint, but for a limited time, like most games, not dependent on a general use stamina bar, but based on it's own internal timer.
I expect PS2 to handle a lot of these things, like sprinting and jumping, the same way most modern FPS's do. It was interesting to have to manage your stamina for a multitude of different uses in PS1 though. Considering how little we know of implants in PS2 (or whatever their equivalent is), it's hard to say how deep their management will go. I would tend to guess it will be a little more shallow than PS1 unfortunately, but we'll just have to wait and see. |

the point of this discussion is to prevent the devs from having to react to whining after the game was released.
because that (the only valid point of your post) was always a bad idea in the past on any game. we know that the devs are watching this forum closely and i am sure they want to know about our concerns. because this community mainly composes out of loyal longtime planetside 1 veterans that love the original game and know what it felt like. there will be whining after release, there has always been. but having to change something in a released game is tougher than considering such issues during developement, wheile there is still the complete crew on the team and nobody is pissed because his playstyle has already developed around this particular thing. so i don´t think this discussion is invalid. this forum is full of discussions about features we would like and features we would like to have changed. and some of us think bunnyhopping doesn´t belong into planetside because it looks retarded and kills the epic warfare atmosphere. while some people think bunyhopping is fun even if it doesn´t give an advantage. i don´t care if i get fragged by players, that´s not the point. i am just concerned about the look. ps2 looks so great, and i would not like to have photorealistic badass spacemarines hopping around like bunnys, ruining the moment. for those who enjoy to humiliate the player they just owned, there will be the voice macro system. no need to act like a jerk during the whole fight. |

Sensationalism is a good way to get people to pay attention to you and can actually be better than a solid argument for swaying people unfortunately.
Bunny hopping really isn't an issue due to the size of the fights we'll be having. Think about when Bunny hopping is used and it's not in the large scale fights we're used to. It's mainly for 1v1 fights which are very rare. It also tends to be used out in the open which is where tanks tend to roam in PS. Personally I think lag has the possibility to be a much bigger problem than bunny hopping.

It's more of an aesthetic concern, like Shogun said. I'm not really that worried about it though. Bunnyhopping, even as an aesthetic, hasn't really been something I've seen much of in the past few years. The only reason a topic like this even comes up is because we're discussing a sequel to an 8 year old game. I don't mind debating every minutia of PS1 in regards to what I'd like to see in PS2, but some of the issues from the first game won't even be relevant in the sequel. Planetside 2 seems to me to be the spirit of Planetside stuck inside the body of a modern shooter. All of the important bits that make Planetside great and unique seem to be there, wrapped up in most of the modern bells and whistles of a game like Battlefield. If it isn't an issue in most modern shooters, it probably won't be an issue in PS2. On the other hand, there are plenty of things that modern shooters do that may not be good for PS2. Those are the most important discussions I think. |

i admit, that i have not played many modern shooters, so i don´t know if bunnyhopping has died down. don´t like ww2 or present day military shooters and after planetside 1 i was spoiled for all the 4-16 player shooters ;-)

this wont be a problem . devs have already stated that jumping will have a huge effect on a players cof.
this is a modern fps gameplay, adadad and bunny hopping will do little to save anyone in combat. its gonna take a steady hand and skill to get kills. players will not be able to exploit any movement features in ps2 as it is not peer to peer. |

"bunny hopping will have little benefit" implying that there is some benefit. I'm just asking that we don't see any benefit. As other posters in this thread have made clear, planetside 1 was distinguished, among other things, about the lack of bunny hop ability, thus forcing real non-bunny hopping tactics by the players. You can complain about our "complaint" (which it isn't), but the board here is a great place to at least vent out any possible concerns we p1 vets have about a p2 successor since the devs have said that they want to know what we think. so here is what we think. |

All of your posts thus far have made you look like a whiny ass 10 year old. It's funny you're complaining about people that actually know how to talk to each other and structure sentences correctly. Last edited by Zulthus; 2011-12-14 at 07:34 PM. |

Darkfall had bunny hopping... man it was so lame seeing people in full armor hopping all over the place casting spells.
Actually these forums are bringing back memories, getting more and more like DF forums unfortunately, exploits being defended as good gameplay and juvenile trolls infesting threads with shit posts. <sigh> Was inevitable, the good pre-release communities only last so long. It will only get worse. |

Wow. I saw a mega-cheater today. Playing VS, we had an NC base locked down. CE every door, CC guarded.
Then, what to our wondering eyes should appear? Some cheating scum TR named KONTRAMARKO. Holy smokes, he killed 2 people, got killed, instantly resurrected himself, killed another. Helped the NC resecure, then vanished. He just appeared, magically, in the downstairs lobby of the Tech Plant. The NC tech plant, and is popping all over the lobby like the dude in the movie "Jumper". I'm not talking running, I'm talking just teleporting. No mines had been tripped, all the doors were secure, and there he was. I appealed him. It was one of the worst, most egregious displays of cheating I have ever seen. I can't imagine that going on in PS2 for very long.
