Planetside 2 looks to have loads more customisation than PS1 without the inventory or cert system, im not getting peoples problems.

One thing that stood out is the infiltraitor seems to be combined with sniper now.

Don't see sniper class, but we know they can cloak.

6 classes? That's it? 6?

There had better be a HELL of a lot of customization for each class. Customization that I'm not sure I'm seeing in the screenshot.

What else would you include?

And yeah, that's the equipment screen, not the certification/skills screen.

Hmmm, it looks pretty, but tbh this screen creates as many new questions in my mind as it answers.
  • Is this just the "loadout selection at spawn" screen, or the equipment term screen as well?
  • It takes up the whole screen, so if I'm presented with this screen at a term will it be semi-transparent so I can still see what's going on around me or does it block my view?
  • How do you select what items can go in the slot? Do you just click a slot and get a dropdown?
  • For the Engie in this case, is the secondary weapon limited to pistol-sized only or can it be bigger?
  • Do Heavy Infantry get another weapon slot, so they can carry primary, secondary, and a sidearm for weapons?
  • Do any classes get 2 tool slots? Or can the secondary weapon slot be swapped out for a second tool slot? Given class restrictions would a second tool slot even be useful?
  • Do we have keyboard shortcuts to navigate in this screen or is it all forced mouse clicky-clicky?
  • As already mentioned, diff between shield and armour?
  • Can you ditch the knife and put something else in its slot?
    When out in the field, how do you use the items in the smaller "backpack" inventory slots? Do you have to bring up this screen to swap it out or can we use some sort of mini-popup menu? Is each minislot bound to a key? This again brings up the concern about the loadout screen blinding my view while doing so...


I know it's really hard to judge things based on a single screenie, but so far I don't see how this is at all better than the inventory/favorite system from PS1. I'm not saying it's worse, but it doesn't strike me as being any more efficient or user friendly.

I hope its not like BF3 where you have to go into the customisation screen everytime you want to break out the stinger or Javlin thats only available in the engineer class. That is such an irritating faff.

To clarify: each time you spawn you have the 6 choices of the classes but the situation may require a different set up of the engineeer class you had set up previously. So now you have to run to the equipment term to manually put in a lancer or an armour repair kit.
Ideally there should be favourites that I can quickly switch to.

Not having to play inventetris is definitely a perk.

Not if you have to instead dig through multiple selections screens to swap out your tools slot during a firefight or grab a different weapon from a term while your view of the gameworld is completely obscured it isn't.

Seriously, PS1's inventory was quite manageable even out in the field once you discovered right-clicking.
