Well, that "tree" is more like a seedling.
I was expecting it to branch out far more. One could argue that this is only for the reaver, but looking at the space avaiable for the icons, don't expect much more for anything else. It could go deeper, yes, but not much wider. What I find confusig is, if a column is supposed to be sidegrades of the same variant, why do you need to learn them in order? Shouldn't they be equal? If they are not, the customisation is worthless. |

Oi, I see where you're looking now. I hadn't tried to read that on account of it being so run together, but it definately looks like "Ammo capacity for the secondary weapon".
I wonder if maybe various sidegrades require you to unlock certain parts of the tree? Like weapon damage/RoF sidegrades require secondary ammo II certed. |

Looks good this one too. Really nice to get a peek at vehicle + infantry GUI
As for the amount of cert points he has, could just be "higby hax" for testing purposes. Sorta like unlimited certs to be able to test properly.

Notice how in the upper right-hand corner it says: "reaver > certs > reaver NC certification"
To me, that implies that what we're looking at is a subset of the total amount of certs available, specifically the NC empire specific certs. Now, why do you need empire specific certs for an otherwise empire specific vehicle? Two things could be inferred from this; either each empire has the same unique certs available for all of their vehicles, or each 'class' of vehicle draw from a common pool of certs (i.e. the Prowler and Vanguard would have access to a large pool of the same certs, with an added pool of ES certs that are common among all of the specific empire's vehicles). So to people thinking that this cert tree is kind of small: I could easily imagine there being at least 2-3 more trees of about equal size, and these tree would possibly branch/be more focused on sidegrades than the ES cert tree, which I imagine is there to ensure that TR gets easier access to a higher rate of fire early on, etc. Last edited by Myomoto; 2012-02-10 at 04:31 AM. |

While it's fun to work on what we have, reading too much into the total certs could well be a bit of a stretch.
Every time I'm testing something that uses virtual resources I always crank up the value so I can play around as much as I want. While these could be real values, it's also very likely they are just for debugging. |

God dammit.
This is disappointing to me. I'd been hoping beyond hope that we'd be seeing sidegrades to customize the vehicle, and less direct power boosts. How about instead of +5 damage, we have - "+20% damage/-20% ROF"(Those that want powerful hit and run attacks) or "-20% damage/+20% ROF" (Those that want better A to A capabilities), or "+30% blast radius/-15% damage" (For use against groups of enemies)? Things that people will tailor to their play style? This? This is not looking like sidegrades. This looks like a tech tree. This is looking like "Select the best tier available everytime, why the hell would you select +3 damage when you could use +4 damage?" I'm hoping I'm wrong as hell. Really really wrong. But that screenshot is very much giving me this impression. Last edited by Shade Millith; 2012-02-10 at 05:13 AM. |

I don't think this screen is showing us a list of all possible Reaver certs. I think it's only showing us all of the certs he's put into his queue to be learned and the current state of his cert queues for the Reaver. I'd guess the "Previous" button in the lower-right would bring you to a list of all available Reaver certs. Or at least a list of the certs he hasn't learned yet. I'd also bet the 4 columns represent 4 different cert categories that exist for the Reaver. From left to right they'd be:
The 4 different columns act like 4 separate assembly lines or "pipelines" working in parallel, with 1 pipeline reserved for each category. So it looks like you can only be actively learning 1 cert per category for a vehicle at any given time. The top-to-bottom order of each column probably represents the order in which the certs will be "learned." Now, to wander farther on down the Ganja Trail..... I think the cert icons that are highlighted with a big white square are the certs in each column that are currently being "worked on." The icons above that are certs that have already been learned during the current game session, and the ones below aren't yet learned but have been placed in their respective cert queues. In addition, the one highlighted in red is the currently "selected" cert, whose current status and details are listed on the box to the right - in this case, Increased Reload 1 for all Reaver weapons, which is in the Pilot cert column and has already been acquired. OTOH, the popup on the right is the most recent "cert event" that occurred while watching this screen. So he just acquired the Increased Ammo Capacity cert on the Secondary Weapon - which is why there are two cert icons highlighted with big white squares in the Secondary Weapon category (column #3). It looks like the higher of the 2 squares had already started dimming when Higby took this screenie, and I'd bet it soon faded to a "completed" small white highlight a few seconds later, just like the top 3 "completed" certs in the Left-most (Primary Weapon) column. I can see how it still can be a titled name. Besides, it's a cheap nasty insignificant vehicle that probably doesn't deserve something other than 'Quad'.
