This isn't the first time we've been treated badly and there comes a point where picking up your ball and going home is the only thing they might take notice of.
This really does get to the point.. does getting up and losing your business really affect them, or does it just make them say "well, there goes one that wasn't worth the money and effort anyway, just like we thought..."

Im flustered by all this too, I just don't think boycott is the right answer at this point. If anything, public outcry with media involvement IS.

For a lot of people, myself included, this is the worst case scenario. Beyond something ridiculous like a mandatory $50 monthly subscription fee, there is literally nothing else they could have done to stop us wanting to play this game. The only possible avenue they'd left themselves to make people abandon their game and they went down it like Sonic the hedgehog on crack.
It's no different then having to move and make friends at a new school. I agree that it sucks, but I don't understand how anyone can just say they won't play the game now.
They didn't do this to piss anyone off or lose players. They did it for better customer support.

This thread though, is ridiculous. Entitled, whining, brats. That's not to say that some of the posts in this thread have great points...but nothing justifies this reaction.

It's ridiculous.

1.) "Screw you, I quit" *goes to sulk*
2.) "Screw you, and I will outlogic and out-argue you by whatever means necessary until you see and recognize how wrong you are."

Apply this situation.

Again, I REALLY am not trying to troll anyone. I get the arguement. Friends are involved, and the right of choice is involved. I SUPPORT THAT. but honestly, reacting with option one is childish and unproductive. Option 1 is why GOVERNMENTS get to do what they want, because people do the least possible and then sit back in anger, rather than getting angry and doing something PRODUCTIVE.

/end personal opinion
So you say we should accept everything they do to us, lower our heads and carry on? Where is your spine?

I chose SOE to play with. Then one day they said me, you can play with us anymore, we sold you, you must play with pro7 (and have no other chance). You know what this resemble? SLAVERY. Selling communities like meat and cash cows.

Im not a slave. I can chose. I chose SOE to play with, if i cant then i chose not to play at all.

You are crossing so many lines here it has gone beyond any sort of rationale.

Slavery? I am fucking embarrassed for you.

On the contrary, I say that you should do EVERYTHING you can short of pulling all support for a game you love... cancelling your sub? Fine. Giving up on the company and abandoning the fight to get them to rethink? HELL NO.

If anything, I'm saying that the *goes to sulk* part is the wrong answer. I don't blame anyone for cancelling a subscription, I just think you have more SWAY if you keep it and argue than if you cancel and argue.

Now I never played Planetside before, and I'm not going to assume to know every detail of the current situation.

If I was part of this community for the past 8 years playing alongside people I grew to call comrades, even though they were continents away, then I would be pretty pissed if I was forced to leave that community.

I completely understand why some people will quit the game.

This game may be free to play, but if I'm on a us server at 4 AM then I doubt there will be more than 100 people total. Different timezones make for a constant fight. Those dull moments are...well dull.

like I said I don't know what is currently happening so correct me on what is wrong.

As said on twitter, im not doing pointless boycott myself. I direct my energy into improving the situation, or organice a mass boycott properly.

A mass boycott against SOE wont do a thing. What we need to make sure is that Pro7 realizes whats going to happen if they screw up.

Like I say, even if it doesn't make a difference, I can't in good conscience support such a company by playing it's game.

Edit: Not to mention, I have public outcry with media involvement covered, too.

Erm, no. Being loyal to a company that then sells you off to another one to make a quick buck is not the same as having to move house because daddy got a new job. I see where you're coming from, but it doesn't hold up.

Obviously they didn't do this just to piss us off and lose our custom, but do you really believe this is about providing a superior service? Really?

Absolutely not. We've all wanted this game for so long and now you've cancelled your SOE account due to this one thing? That's really sad. I feel sorry for all who have decided to leave.

Everyone is blowing this WAY out of proportion. It's a damn region lock, calling it SLAVERY? Has absolutely nothing to do and in no way at all could ever be related to this business decision. Seriously, was that pulled out of your ass or what?

When the going gets tough, the tough cry more and go home.

Stand up for what you believe in... by running away at the first sight of trouble.

Tell me, how do you get through to a company that doesn't care about it's players and only cares about money, other than by impacting their money?

If they renege on their deal with prosieben, then I'll take it all back, but the fact that they made this decision without us speaks volumes about the extent to which they care about our opinion, regardless of how eloquently we state it.

Higby already said it's technical issues and I believe him. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you don't work at SOE upper management, do you? Please let me know how you have discovered their exact intentions.

Nothing we say or do could prevent something like that from happening anyway. Just because they made the decision doesn't mean they don't give a damn about us. They wouldn't be on a FAN SITE dumping loads of awesome info on our heads, or even MAKING this game for us if they didn't give a damn about us.
