Sayin' it again...Wait for beta.

"It's annoying in Halo: Reach" says nothing as to how it'll be in Planetside 2.

So long as the flash bangs don't do that White screen high pitched ring, I'll be ok with it. I'm not sure about the other classes, but I'll assume they all have a visor or goggles. There doesn't really need to be a blind effect. You could just make you character disoriented.

Jet packs. Not much of an issue. You don't have cover to hide behind in the sky.

I would want a jammer grenade to take the role of a flashbang.

After you get hit with a jammer, your screen shakes, and you're getting visual interferences, and pictures of what you've seen a split second ago. An effect of delayed and broken videofeed. BF2142 comes to mind.

Some games have flash bangs working that way. Your screen just freezes with the last image you saw before you got hit. It's a good way to do it because your still able to react a bit to the last thing you saw. And it dosen't hurt your eyes.

It might not be so bad depending on how they handle friendly targets.

The idea gives me flashbacks to my CS days where some troll would drop a couple flashbangs into the spawn at the start of a mission.

Yeah, friendly fire is probably the biggest issue. Maybe if the game assigned grief equivalent to some large amount of damage whenever you disoriented a friendly?

There will always be idiots running around where they're not supposed to run around, so griefing of such type here will not work properly.

This whole forum is speculative.

If the devs really are reading for feedback, people voicing opinions on hypothetical scenarios (especially ones seen in other games) gives good feedback about things that the devs don't want to inform us about yet.

With flash bangs, I'd like it so that a person has to "break" some kind of stick or pull a ring, and then has 2 seconds to throw it, or else it explodes in their own face. This way, you can't just throw them at somebody who's about to engage you to completely disable them and then kill them (cos you'd have to go through the animation of preparing the thing, and would be killed by then).

This.

Though you should be able to hold a lever and it not explode but it does take time to get it ready to throw.

Nah, I was able to turn away from flashbangs in CS easily enough.

Key to success based on CS:
  • Timed detonation without cooking.
  • Very specific bouncing sound.

Do you mean that treating the flashbangs like normal grenades in the grief system wouldn't work or that griefing people by throwing flashbangs at them wouldn't work?

I think that all grenades should work that way. Brink did it that way and I liked that.

This. If you throw a nade and at least one friendly doesn't figure out it's a flashbang (or doesn't turn away at time), you get damage. As a result you get 2 disabled muppets instead of 1.

You get grief, not damage. And if you're throwing explosives into areas occupied by friendlies then yeah, that'll happen.

I mean you could as reasonably say that you shouldn't get grief from hitting friendlies with a normal grenade because they're stupid and sometimes they stand near people you want to kill while you're throwing.
