It's beautiful. Popping the blues out on the warpgate give it the sci fi feel it deserves. IMO similar things should be done with the bases during the daytime to emphasize that even more. Perhaps somewhat like the color ribbon that bases had to indicate who owned them?

The terrain palette in general also looks great and the contrast it makes with the greys/silvers/yellows of the bases palettes makes the bases look very outlandish, rugged and foreign on Auraxis. something that the original game missed.
exactly, there should be an empire specific colour on the base, blue, purple or red stripe, so it indicates which empire it belongs to

Okay, you're probably just trolling, but in case you were being serious: Mao is the region name, i.e. the sector of the continent that the tech plant resides in.
Mao is the name of the bastard China man that killed more people then Stalin and Hitler combined.

And don't bother responding to this post. If you peeps are this weak in history then you've my sympathies.

I tweeted TRay and Higs. Either they will respond or they will not.

Either way I will not comment further on this topic.

Well I plan on killing more people in this shooting game than Mao. Names are irrelevant.

You're a racist little prick, aren't you?

I assumed you didn't know much about history yourself since you didn't even spell Tse-tung's name right, but that's another discussion entirely. The point I was making is that Mao is just a region name in PS2, and has nothing to do with historical figures.

The fact that you're frantically tweeting the devs about it is more than a little ridiculous.

Are you insane? What is racist about a China man?

He is commonly referred too as Chairman Mao. Zedong or Tse-tung as his last name.

The fact that you're frantically tweeting the devs about it is more than a little ridiculous.

There is nothing "frantic" about asking a simple question and requesting a name change.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mao_(disambiguation)

There's a huge number of things Mao is relevant to, I have absolutely no issue with it and don't think it should be changed just because one evil person born in the late 1800s happened to have it as a surname, especially given that it's a very common surname.

The Tech Plant design seems awfully... busy.

Related to what Sheppy was saying about the tech plant looking busy, I have to agree (but in a good way). I really like how different its architecture is compared to the other base layouts. It looks heavily focused on vertical gameplay and fighting on the outside of the structure.

I expect to see some really cool defense setups with snipers attacking the exterior of the base, and engineers mining up the outside and upper decks in between constructing Mana turrets for extra firepower.
