Second Favourite Faction?

My team of, like, 7 people have all been going back and forth, each pointing out reasons for being each empire. We've narrowed it down to "More than likely VS, maybe, if that doesn't work out, TR, and fuck NC." Seriously.

I have no hatred against NC, and while I can't help but notice alot of jerks on this forum are NC in comparison to the other two factions, just as well, NC has a ton of helpful, nice guys.

So, it comes down to the story for us, and since we can't help but think of the NC as anything more than bratty, self-righteous anarchists from a lore standpoint, I feel much more ready to change to TR than NC.

Safe to say, if you stuck me in a room with one TR soldier and one NC soldier, no armor, and one gun with one bullet in my hand, that NC wouldn't walk out. Of course, that's in game only. No IRL homicide.

The vs were more infuriating in general. Every time there was a decent nc/tr fight, you'd always see a random n00bfire max on some random hill in the middle of nowhere just shooting down mossies and reavers.

Also, I lost all respect for the VS when their population spiked because of uber lasher that killed maxes around corners.

TR has always seemed cool to me and seems like a relatively fun empire with interesting people in it. If I didn't bleed purple, I'd probably pick bleeding red like a normal human being.

Bleeding blue is just fucked up. But not as fucked up as the NC. Fuck the NC.

But fuck the TR too. Just because their my second choice doesn't mean I don't aim to kill them sons of bitches by the Galaxy load.

I'd probably play VS if just for the hovering vehicles. One of the most fun I had in PS1 as NC was jacking a Magrider and cruising around in awesome NC colours :P

The gunners position was so awesome I couldn't believe that most of the time that seat was empty o_O

I'm going to try out all factions in beta and see where that takes me. I really don't understand why NC seems to be the most popular at the moment...

In PS1 TR was my first choice and VS a close second. I did put a significant amount of time into NC but never really had quite as much fun.

I expect PS2 to be a completely different experience though.

That's a fair point. Even though the empire philosophies are largely the same, the different game mechanics will make a lot of things feel very different. Also, while there will be plenty of PS1 vets playing, the majority of the populations will probably be new players, so the type of players that make up each empire could change radically compared to the first game.

So far, I like the NC aesthetics the least (aside from the MAX and Reaver, which are awesome), but aesthetics are a very small piece of the equation. I highly doubt anything will sway me from primarily playing VS, but it is totally possible that NC could become my second favorite.

I do highly doubt it though. TR looks much more my speed than NC from what we've seen.

where are you getting NC seems to be the most popular?

Everywhere i am reading and seeing polls it's either VS or TR in popularity lead.

Red or dead - 9
Vanu preference - 7
NC preference - 1

Of the 21 NC players:
True blue - 3
TR preference - 10
VS preference - 7
The Great Cactus Unity preference - 1

Of the 18 VS players:
Real teal - 3
TR preference - 11
NC preference - 4

So...

TR has the most loyalists, but prefers the VS over the NC.

VS prefers TR, but likes NC more than the TR do.

NC just about prefers TR over VS, but it's pretty much even.

That's probably just my perception. Perhaps the NC players are just the most vocal :P

But in regards to PS1, NC have had the most population in general by far for some time now.

My second faction of choice (NC4LIFE btdubs) is definitely Vanu. Love the cool alien composite styles and plasma/laser weapons theme.
