personally i'm not into the whole peacocking thing, but i look at it this way
usually i had to pay 15$ a month to play. now i pay nothing to play, but to show support i buy stuff for an amount i set for myself ( 8$? 80$? 800$? ) so i think its just a nice thing to do for a game you enjoy and they will most likely put some things in there that even those who want to go unnoticed will like/want |

I've sorta taken the same approach. I try to support the f2p game I play (mostly APB for now, PS2 also in the future) with about the same money I am/was willing to pay for fe. WoW (as in, some 13€/month).
Then again, since I started university studies, I no longer have income, so I do try to "abuse" the fact I dont have to pay to play. That said, I still try to support the game at times, like during summers when I have income Hmmh, APBR is soon some 1 years old, and I've put in like.. 130€ perhaps, so it goes pretty well with that initial "13€/month" plan, even if I've done only like 3 transactions ever, just bigger ones and used the G1 points slowly.
