This idea isn't innovative (competition leagues often give birth to live streaming sites of matches often by the community) as much as it is a no brainer.
The real question is, in this day and age of social...why isn't SoE doing something like this on the Planetside 2 website. For starters, to stream requires a user to be on the server. SoE could provide cameras (much like the cameras that monitor traffic on a highway) in the models that could provide real-time conflict status in areas - rather than watch what some user thinks is significant. Those cameras could be watched online. Besides, If I can't be the mayor of Wele, I'm not playing this game. Last edited by Kurtz; 2012-01-10 at 02:47 PM. |

That's exactly why SOE isn't doing it. Seriously acosmo complaining about this thread? Don't comment on it then! It's that simple. Last edited by Bittermen; 2012-01-10 at 03:38 PM. |

Seems like a good place to organize, unless Hamma deems otherwise. It's certainly more relevant than some of the threads on here. If and when the project picks up steam and grows a following, I'm sure more of it's discussion will occur elsewhere. Although, given PSU's nature, it would probably just end up being a symbiotic relationship, with the two sites linking back and forth to each other now and then. I'm just not getting how it's not relevant to this board. It's PS2 related. Not like it's an attempt to siphon members away to another competing community, unless PSU has some upcoming plans for organized PS2 streaming that I'm not aware of.
By the time the game goes full release, there should be a lot larger of a pool of players to find the most entertaining personalities from. Even though this is a community project, and not an official SOE endeavor, hopefully they still support the community enough to allow things like this to grow. Obviously they don't want buggy beta footage getting thrown around in public, but between things like this and the planned promotional fan made videos, it would be nice if they were willing to work with the community to get as much positive footage out there as possible as soon as possible. @ acosmo
It here because it is a PS2 idea, this idea has been directly created for PS2, and it is being designed to promote the game in every possible way we can, also to promote this site PSU, the outfits and everything else PS/PS2. It cant get any more PS2!! @ Kurtz The idea is a no brainer, just like the 1000's of other gaming channels. But you find me #1 PS2 24/7 multi stream channel? There isn't one so its not quite the "no brainer" you thought it was. On another note, PerfectStorm said she would be helping out tomorrow night if anybody is interested if it all goes ok, we maxed out at about 28 users tonight and we where a streamer down, wich is still fantastic news, and thanks to all who came along for the ride. We are looking to stream 3 channels tomorrow, keep a look out. See you all there. Last edited by SuperMorto; 2012-01-10 at 06:16 PM. |

Here's the video from tonight, nothing much, but a succesful test if nothing else
http://www.twitch.tv/planetside2/b/305090496 We were still just testing about. I was surprised I could stream that well, seeing that my upload bandwidth is merely like 0,8mbit. Not really planning to stream long term, but we needed multiple stream inputs to test the thing. We got a surprising max of 28 viewers, mainly due to getting some SoE devs to retweet the stream-announcement on Twitter. We had PurrrrrfectStorm and Higgles with us in the stream The video itself says to be viewed some 290 times atm.

Not just streaming cameras at key locations, but built in twitter and even getting foursquare to add Auraxis to their database. And yes IMO streaming live video from within an MMO will be a standard feature in the next 5 years. good luck guys. I hope you have success so that I can watch progression of battles while I'm at work. Just don't forget to play the game occasionally. |
