Lol. I haven't peeked at any of the downloaded files, but I know our man on the inside, Mr T-Ray himself, will have us in awe of his final creations.
I just like to give credit where it's due. The NC better just hope Mr. Higby doesn't go to a Vanu hairdresser to get beta-fied (almost wrote beatified lol) cos if he does we'll slap a mind-changer on him! |

Aw man! ALL OF THESE ARE AWESOME!
Honestly I enjoy all of the tracks, though when I saw the comments regarding NC style, I was a little nervous to think it might be some kind of really overdone "AMURICAAAA!" bits...but actually it's a bit more reminiscent of starcraft 2. Or at least one track was...hearing some of the other bits...ehh... The VS stuff sounds pretty awsome, but suffers the most from low quality. Some Deus ex, tron and Wubwub in there. I also like the TR stuff which is the more classical and epic feel. I really enjoy their message soundtrack bits "Epic crescendo!" |

Even after what Higby said, I still can't imagine the final master of the NC tracks sounding right. They just don't fit. They're almost whimsical and they inspire no sense of commitment to the NC's cause. They feel more 'hillbilly barndance' than 'massive struggle against an oppressive superpower'.
I totally agree with what Higby said about the synth guitars though. They do the tracks no favours. I say this as a TR loyalist by the way. The NC deserves something deeper. Oh, the TR stuff is absolutely spot on. Last edited by JHendy; 2012-06-14 at 10:56 AM. |

While I feel dirty for listening to the music, I just could not help myself. It is amazing and I cannot wait to hear the final versions. Hearing little bits of the original Planetside music tossed in every now and then made me tear up at work! Really good stuff.

NC isn't that bad guys. It reminds me of southern rock mixed with some Old West acoustic guitar. I think it fits the NC "Rebel" style pretty well and I'm sure it will sound a lot better with actual guitars and not synthesized ones.
TR has a lot of horns and drumbeats like traditional war music you might see in an action movie. Very epic sounding like you are riding into battle. Vanu gives me Mass Effect flashbacks. Love the techno style. Last edited by Vanu Techpriest; 2012-06-14 at 10:59 AM. |

And remember the NC theme is not necessarily antithesis of TR, or antagonist to TR; their theme is freedom, and TR happen to be the catalyst which drove the NC to fight. Doesn't matter if it's TR or VS or Magic School Bus, NC are for freedom and against oppression.
EDIT: Theme in the English 101 sense, not Music 101 ![]() |

![]() But I get the feeling that I'll still like the VS music the best. I'm just digging the style. I think I'll have the most improved opinion of the TR, since I think the richness Higby mentioned will really crank it up a few notches, but even the NC sounds great to me right now. But the VS music is just so perfect for the VS, so I can't help but fall for it. Edit: Say but more, idiot. I didn't get enough sleep. |
