If it did, it wouldn't be a very noticeable indicator.

Plus in the grand scheme of things, it is rather pointless. What's more worth noticing to the non-vets: the fact that you played PS1, or how long you played PS1?

I'd even wager most vets don't really care how many years the other vets served. Major updates stopped fairly early in the games life, you didn't need to play for 8 years to learn everything there is to know.

I don't agree with OP.
Planetside2 is a new game, a new start for everyone.
PS1 vets already get priority access to the beta... that's all you really need.

I dont like this kind of garbage. Why do so many feel the need to strike a pose via bling? Quit posing Madonna its a war, wear a cup.

Everyone who said no is apparently jealous. And don't pretend your a PS vet and don't want a cosmetic reward, we all know you are fake. If you played PS and payed the $15 a month charge for many years and put up with the shitty populations and bad customer service, you deserves some kind of recognition. No one is demanding here, SOE and the dev team agree, this is simply a thank you for sticking by our side all these years through the good times and the bad. So stop complaining about vets getting rewards, if we didn't pay that overpriced subscription fee all those years I highly doubt we would have a PS2.

I didn't put up with shit. I got the fuck out early

But I still think a gift for the vets would be cool. Especially those that stuck with the game. If it weren't for people hanging on for so long, Planetside: Next might never have gotten rolling, and who knows if or when a Planetside 2 would have happened.

Though his post reeks of entitlement: I do agree it'd be cool if the vets got a little present for showing there was more than enough reason to develop Planetside 2.

However, I don't agree with giving bigger or more prizes based on time commitment, mostly because it's needlessly developing trophies for an exponentially smaller group of people with each consecutive year, and there's no guarantee any of them will still be playing Planetside 2 after so long (PS1 and PS2 are different beasts, just born on the same concept.) The recognition of having played Planetside itself should be enough to satisfy most veterans and convince all non-vets.

Somehow, being rewarded per year served just to show how many years one served seems shallow and unnecessarily exclusive to me.

I said no to the backpack. Almost anything else would be a better reward.

Backpacks, no. Beret, yes. Original armor, maybe. I could care less, a ribbon will suffice, or nothing at all will do just as well...

If they do decide to give vets a cosmetic item, they should make it available to purchase on the station store as well.

I really hate games that offer promotional items that are unobtainable after a certain time. Sure it makes those players who got the item feel special but it pisses off the rest of the playerbase who missed out (especially the completionists!)

I disagree. One unique item is a way for the old vets to recognize each other on the battlefield. Nobody else should be able to buy into that.

Only Vets get to do the cabbage patch, seriously a badge on my armor and maybe the same badge on kill cam , so when you kill someone they know it was a OG...

PS2 is a new game and the slate should be cleaned. You've already enjoyed years of getting tons of kills by just pushing a button and now you're trying to pull benefits into an entire new game too? I feel like they were way too liberal with the benefits gained from CR ranks in ps1 and I hope they don't make the same mistake in PS2. You were supposed to be playing PS1 for fun, not to ask for benefits down the road simply because you kept playing. If you really have to have something, I wouldn't mind something minor like a ribbon, but definitely not a backpack or skin of any kind.
