This will be left for post release after they have the shooting mechanics nailed down, and the 3 main continents fleshed out. Last edited by Sephirex; 2012-07-27 at 06:38 PM. |

I'll be shocked if it ever happens. They'll also probably make it cost a fuckton of real life money if it does.
Not cynical at all. Nope.

It's a major change in game mechanics to just drop in mid-beta. When they're ready it will have its own separate alpha/beta development cycle. Last edited by Sephirex; 2012-07-27 at 06:46 PM. |

i dont know, beta is going to run for 3 to 6 months . not going to be very hard for them to set it up. they already have the map for it. and i would guess that all the outfit bases will be the same for balancing purposes. maybe different tears of the same base depending on how much resources your outfit puts into the base.

I would sink a ton of money into my own base if it means getting to defend it or having it defend itself. Whole continents with just player-made bases sounds very intriguing. Now, I don't know how it'll work, but it may just go like this:
You make a player base, perhaps choosing from a set design/size and decking it out with decorations, colors, vehicle spawners, and defenses like turrets. Then you can go out and conquer other player bases. Once you've conquered another player base, the base transforms into yours. Completely speculative. If something like this did happen, you would probably make the base in a small in-game editor and be able to save it, should your one and only base get taken. I don't care if you even can take player bases. I JUST WANT TO SEE THIS HAPPEN.

I think an even cooler way to do it would be to have outfit ranks, in that an outfit ranks itself up similar to battle rank by cumulative score from their members. Once the Outfit reaches an appropriate rank it can purchase a 32 square km "home" continent that is roughly half the size of a normal continent with either pooled resources or pooled station cash.
The continent starts out with one basic tech plant with no walls, turrets, or other fancy bells and whistles. You can purchase other pre-built bases, outposts, or structural upgrades that go into pre-mapped locations with more resources or station cash from the outfit's pool. As the outfit's rank goes up, more stuff is unlocked to buy. The benefit to having an outfit continent? All resources from captured bases are doubled for other faction's outfits if they do manage to take something, and all individual battle rank experience for members of friendly outfits are doubled for kills/actions/etc. So enemies have a reason to take your continent, while you have a reason to defend it. As for outfit rank, only experienced earned on normal, non-outfit continents counts towards outfit rank, so people would still have a reason to fight on the normal continents. Plus, when you factor in that it WILL mostly be outfits interested in getting bases, $50 is like chump change. You get even 5 people to chip in $10, boom, command center. |
