That's because they have never declared their independence.
The British give it all up 89 years later, and Canada is born. Can't wait for your Centenial Celabration.
( for the Canadians. I hear you have great strip bars) |

Sure call me a retarded moron, that just proves americans are so mature and intelligent.
As for Unreg the only mature guy here. Sure you guys decided you were a nation but the original colonies were not officially a nation until they won the war. I mean heck that's what the war was for!! To get your freedom! If you would have lost the war then the American nation would have never been. It's like i said early you can say you're gay or the world's smartest man all you want but you aren't really until you proved it. |

Well actually that's not true. They were fighting for the right of their country to exist. If they had lost the country would have dissapeared but since we won our country was able to exist. Winning a war doesn't make you a country, the fact that they declared their independence made them one.

I suppose that Dio has a point to a certian extent. No one really thinks that the Confederate States of America was ever a country, but they did declare their independance from the U.S.A. and then lost their revolutionary war.
So by American Standards the U.S. was a country when we declared our Independance from England, but the Confedarates were not because they lost their war for Independance. A bit hipocritical, but hey were you really surprised? |

there is a difference.
to the South....they were a new "country" if you will. the United States chose not to recopgnize it just like the British did not recognize the US original. You CAN claim all you want but until someone recognizes it, it really doesnt matter. The French recognized the US as a free country and then aided in the battle against the British. nobody acknowledged the South (and it didnt help they lost either)

Technically, the Confederate States was a country. They declared themselves as a country and even had their own declaration of independence. They were a country.
But if you reconsider that kind of logic, that means I can write my own declaration of independence declaring my house as the country of Nohimnia.
