I'll weigh in on this....

I co-moderate a religios-discussion forum...Its both Heaven and Hell sometimes (how ironic, huh?). The moderation here is not a problem. I've seen what a hands off moderation does to sites, it destroys them. I've learned those lessons and applied them to where I moderate. Results have been good. Trolling is less rampant and everyone down right has a good discussion. There is a site thats practically dedicated to smear ours...and the irony is, they don't have access. But they will consistenly spin tall tales about us. That say's something.

Bottom line, you have to wave the stick around and use it from time to time. Overuse will kill your forum, but lax usage will kill it ast well. Tough situation. When people start to think they own the place, they will try to push thier limits. Sometime's, they let it go to their head. Let Bohica be Bohical and PSU be PSU. In the end, the better managed one will do better. And the other will just appear as whiney little bitches....and newcomers will see through it. Best thing to do on this issue is....

I'd like to also point out my above post about Infernus as an example of riding the fence with PSU/BOHICA. If you want to post on both forums, fine. But dont bash one, and praise it on the other. It only makes you look stupid.

If you guys dont like me, fine. Bash me to your hearts content. But dont pretend like you love me in an IM/PM like atleast half a dozen of you have been doing for the past year. It gives me a great laugh, but at the same time it's pathetic.

Oh, and for the record. I hate all of {BOHICA} equally. But i'll always have a place in my heart for people like Dio, Dhark and last but certainly not least Navarone. They could declare Islamic Jihad on a cage full of furry bunnies and i'd still love them.

they should IP ban you for your own good. but squeeky, those are some of the coolest people i know, Kiwi is a little too liberal, but so is triggar, and i like triggar just fine, i dont know what you did to get banned, but it must have really ticked them off.

Well, Im peace so I gotta post on this one.

The forums right now are a very healthy place. I see the right steps being done to prevent bad things from happening. Do I see an occasional bad call on the part of our great mods? Yes. Occasionaly. Do I see an occasional bad call on the part of my police department? Yes. Every five minutes. The Mods are doing an absolutly awsome job. There is only one area that I tend to agree with at all on the other side of the fence.

I shall refer to this as the ok flame. The ok flame is vaugly funny, doesnt really hurt anyone, yet lets people know how you feel.These types of flames I could deal with. The whole issue I have with them is that there is almost no reason to do ANY type of flame. For what reason in a post would you need to say "Shouve an acorn up your ass?" I cant think of anyway that someone could say that unless the first person said something completly unreasonable/flamed you. Then in that case you shouldnt flame back because that starts a flame war. Basicly the ok flame shouldnt exist either because there shouldnt be anyway to make someone want to do that. It doesnt add to the conversation. It doesnt help anyone. Theres just NO reason to flame someone for any reason if everything on the forums is going smooth. If you flame someone you either did it for no reason and then you ARE deserving of punishment. Or the other party flamed you first, then your both screwed.

The member expressed an intense desirer to teach Squirrels a new method of keeping their nuts warm other than putting their nuts in their mouths to keep them warm.

I have no problems with flames. Onne of the funniest things I ever read was a flame. I really think we need to take a step back and look at this. Do we really need to lock derailed threads? Do we really need to ban people like Dhark? I think we really need to take an objective analysis of the tone of these forums.

a) We don't lock more derailed threads than we do. Take a good look at the forum index; locking threads isn't a common occurance.

b) To play Devil's Advocate, Dharkbayne had several, SEVERAL warnings to shape up. He didn't. Everyone agrees to the forum rules when they register, so it isn't fair to cry "NAZI!!" when they're enforced.

1. This isnt a public freedom-of-speech area. This is a privatly owned and operated website. Yes, PSU uses donations to keep it running, but it isnt like buying stock in a company. You dont get control of PSU because you donated booko dollars. Hamma has the last say in everything and thats final... PSU doesnt *need* to have forums at all. Before people go all whining saying "Ohhhh, this guy got banned because he was saying shit about other people so this place is a nazi heaven and now I'm going to go too!" you just have to realise... this isnt a democracy, this is a dictatorship enforced by moderators. Either go with the flow and enjoy yourself...or leave. Simple.

Get a grip people! LESS DRAMA. Accept things for how they are - they are NOT going to change. There is no sense is arguing for anyone's sides anymore. Triggar, Ivan, Martyr, Hamma, and whoever else... they are the final say in the forums. They make sure the rules are enforced to keep this place a safe-haven for everyone to come and have fun. Have a problem with one of them? Goto Hamma DIRECTLY and state your reasoning, I'm sure he'll listen. Dont go making threads like a middle-school drama queen like is happening right now for the sake of "this needs to be discussed and revealed to the community". It wont change anything and all it does is make yourself look bad. Be an adult and handle things like an adult if you have a problem... not throw a temper tantrum like some people recently and stomp your feet, screaming like a little child in a store because his dad wont get him candy (exp. when his dad should've used condoms).

Sure, you might think the moderators are harsh. Well, take a look at another example... police. They enforce the law. They can be harsh to people that break the rules, but they're doing that to protect the ones who are trying to just live their lives in peace. They serve a vital purpose... and if a criminal had a say in wether or not the cop could keep his job because he enforced the law against that said criminal? Well, imagine how fucked up the country would be right now.

My visits here of late have been few and far between .. not because I'm off playing a new game or whoring another forum .. simply that life has taken up that time lately. Haven't played PlanetSide as much for the same reasons.

I've always enjoyed coming here .. as with any forum you visit .. you are a guest in someone's "home". I lurk here and on IRC more than I post, and the majority of drama in the forums extends from something that happened on IRC.

As normal, all is going well until someone carries a joke too far or talks out the side of their mouth and someone's panties get bunched .. then the posting starts.

As I recall, there were some complaints about the "elitist" attitude that was becoming prevalent in the Lounge. The lack of the "elitist" attitude was one of the reasons I stayed around here. Guess some folks weren't happy we wanted it to stay that way.

As for the "nazi" crap .. this is after all .. Hamma's place and as such, he is the dictator. Like it or not, that's the case with any forum you visit. Thankfully he hasn't gone "nazi" on us. If y'all think this is "nazi" then apparently our perceptions are different.

Sad to see some folks go .. sorry to hear the reasons they chose.
