I'm not chickening out, in fact I am insulted by that. I have poured thousands of hours and dollars into this site over the past few years do you think I honestly want to just throw in the towel? The fact is that I am tired of dealing with people who get pissed off no matter what I do. PlanetSide is on its way out probably and I dont even play much anymore. I once said that if PS ceased to exist PSU would do the same. PS isnt dead yet but by the looks of things on the forums and in our shoutcasts its getting there. I simply have no interest in continueing to pour my time into this site when I do not even play PS anymore.

Add to that the fact that it costs hundreds of dollars a month to run, I have to run a fundraiser every few months which requires allot of administration and number crunching. It's just getting old, thats all.

And none of those people are coming back no matter what I do, they have a new home now. In fact I could care less who comes back old school, those days are gone now.

Look Hamma, if I had joined earlier on I'm sure my post would have alot more meaning but fact is I'm sure of the contrary. Alot of them still consider you as a friend and would it not be for the kiddies and spammers and all the shit they cause most of them would still be here.

Just take care of the trouble makers and invite them back for some fun like in the old times, sure it will never be QUITE the same but it will be damn near and you just never know... it could all come back to how it was.

If Triggar can stand wasting hours upon hours for just a week-end with friends then I'm sure that someone like her (Hell maybe even her) would just love taking over for a while. I have something to say, and I think it matters.

First off, Hamma, although a minority is pissed, everyone still comes. We all still enjoy the site, honor your commitment to it, and hope you keep it going.

That said, I wish to disclose a PM I recieved from someone who shall remain unnamed. You don't know him.

This will be legnthy, so bear with me. First, my take on the netarun ban. To properly evaluate the situation, one must evaluate the threads.

A. Thread I- "Help, heartless fucks"

The use of satire was rather obvious in my opinion. However, the first few posts proved some people to actually be heartless fucks. Net gets a little ticked off. Jenny changes title. I found it ironic, but whatever, it is of no importance. Net gets a litle more ticked. I add my $25. And a lot of PSU did reply with compassion.

Rayder posts something satirical that net misses, and he explodes in size 7 fury. It's nothing really severe, and for a moment, everything commences normally.

Net turns up the heat a little when he enters a light argument with some Black Hawks on donation....when we get THEAD LOCK. Jenny did it. Her jusification is:

"Ok listen up, I was one of the few mods on yesterday when I saw his post. I personally was offend by his title. I also had feels others might so i did what i thought was best i changed "fucks" to "people". Thats was fine i went on my way whoring, then later on i checked the thread again it was none stop arguing and bitching everyone at everyone. So i closed the post Im tired of seeing threads turning to shit so i did what was best(with the dirction of hamma of course). " (sic).

This is the latest example of the new stance of the mods. Like it or not, it continues, with Hamma stating that basically if you desire change, the exit door is open.

In my opinion, I can no longer recommend loose or tight moderation. All I can say is that times change, and no 2 situations are different. However, in this specific case, they were wrong to lock the thread. If this blanket policy of no drama continues, PSU will be rather boring. People need to take a reasonable amount of bantering, that's what makes it fun to be here.

I am no stranger to drama. The spotlight's been on me in the past, but that amount of batnering was unreasonable. Locking a thread when there is discussion on-topic is, IMO, wrong, especially when de-railed threads abound.

B. The 2nd thread.

After getting a perfectly good thread locked, of course you'll be pissed. Net decided to do it in size 7 all-caps glory. This is what led most people to justify the coming bombardment. Because after all, we can't be angry, now, can we? Yes, he acted noobishly. No, I wouldn't have done that if I were him.

I feel that he set himself up for it all, but that doesn't mean the bombardment was right. Maybe he just...gasp...actually felt bad that people didn't care about 80,000 dead people.

So I guess we are heartless fucks after all.

Squeeky tells him to stop making threads, and he replies with this very un-noobish logic.

"what the hell did I do wrong. I made a thread about helping disaster victims, why in the hell is everyone so pissed. If you don't want to donate, just don't post, k?. don't *** up this thread, guys. Please." -netarun

This has been echoed throughout time here at PSU: if you don't want to contribute anything positive, don't post. Yet it's his fault, right?

Then the chinchilla campaign. I laughed at the replies, I will admit. But it was wrong. It was a relentless assault on a member just trying to help some people, led by Squeeky & Co.

I've been friends with the Squeek for a while. I do like him. However, he really stepped over the line. He deserves some form of minor/moderate reprimand. ObFrog...well, he'll never get banned because he's popular, but he also stepped over the line here.

This continues for several pages, with people calling for civility, notably Rob, Frag, and Hezzy, and more, including the late TotalBiscuit.

And it's locked again- though I can obviously see why. Good call.

C. What the mods should do.

I am no moderator.

I don't pretend to be one.

I am just stating what I would do if I was one. I may be totally wrong. Take this part at face value.

-The mod team is suffering from a lack of gumption. Triggar has personally told me "you don't know what it's like." Jenny and Hamma used the "We put all this effort into this" card. Maybe we need to find more moderators- if it's proving too much for a small staff, Hamma is going to have to find a larger one, or at least somehow be able to make up for it.

-Hamma usually takes the "punish both parties and end all discussion" approach. He departed from this "because the guy was an asshat." But what about Squeeky & Co.? They haven't said anything about them. I would at least explain why they aren't getting punished, but then again, if I was them, they'd be warned.

-Avoid the mass clamoring for loose/tight moderation. I used to be a tight-moderation supporter, and now loose. I feel that no policy covers all situations, though in this case, looseness, was virtually the way to go.

-Stop suppressing drama. Sure, problems that turn into huge wounds should be dealt with all due force. At the same time, incidents like the first thread shouldn't have been locked that quickly, especially when things were still going strong with the topic. The second one was correctly locked. Additionally, we need to speak about drama, not to get a high off of it, but to solve the problems. I'd like to see the team not supress all speech of this.

D. How do I post here?

I'm on the edge. Frankly, if things keep going downhill with all these trolls, no good people left, and other issues, I'm out. However, I will stay here as long as it is fun and entertaining for me. As of now, it still is.

Here's the deal guys.

1st. I have never stated i'm "above the law". If you're going to make accusations, back it up.

2nd. When some idiot comes onto the forum, and does something stupid, they get called on it. This has always happened. When someone makes a stupid "I'm new here thread" which contains garbled english and a string of smilies, we give them shit. When someone continues making dupe accounts just to post every single reply with a picture, we give them shit. Hell, a couple people cussed him out and had some pretty nice zingers. But here's why this example is a problem.

1. It's me that flamed this idiot
2. It was in a thread about donations.

Now, some of you think i'm against the idea of donating to indonesia. And most of you argued the thread hijack was to be a douche. WRONG. The guy re-made a locked thread, using size 6 text, and only a fucking imbicile would do that. So I called him on it. Now, here's where it gets tricky. I've made an effort not to flame, even when it comes to idiots like this piece of work who cant get their message out without making it so a blind man could read it, so I chose a different approach.

Chinchillas.

That's right, I spammed his stupid obnoxious thread with chinchillas. Chinchillas are furry, tiny, rabbit like creatures that dwell in magical forests. And I posted a chinchilla named chester, with some very weak flames.

Now, apparently this is a problem. If ObFrog did it, everyone would be "OMG ROFL". But since I did it, you guys like to jump on me. I'm flattered that you take even chester chinchillas flaming to a level blown so out of proportion it makes me gigglefart, but let's be realistic. You guys are causing way too much fuss, about some OF Forum reject. Hezzy's 'mate' or not, the guy was a dumbass and the mod team has ruled so.

With that, i'd like to say a few things.

This isnt a democracy. This is a dictatorship. Hamma being the dictator. If you dont like the dictatorship, there are millions of other forums you can go to. You can even file for political assylumship at {BOHICA}, they'll take anyone. Hell, they even took me once.

In closing, i'd like to thank everyone for blowing my chinchilla tactics out of proportion, and giving everyone on the forum a humungous headache.
