Less bombs, more gunships please. We need a high-altitude anti-armor solution as an asset for obtaining air superiority. Squishies should be overrun with main battle tanks.

Hopefully the much vaunted customization allows us to make it a real bomber for a tradeoff

i always hope for a game where an open doorway doesnt stop an explosion by just the walls its connected to, if a bomb drops on the other side of the wall you hugging and your 2 feet from the doorway, you should get f'd up

The dynamic of the balancing will change a lot once full pops are in. One of the most pronounced differences is the concentration of defensive fire on high value targets near bases such as low flying Libs.

One thing I think you could do to avoid OPed high alttitude bombing runs on a base population that's predominantly outdoors is to have the bombs be less powerful--unless using an infantry based laser pointer. Not only would this facilitate cooperative game play, it would act as a (fun) difficulty offset for more powerful bombs.

There are a few things that should be killed, maimed, burned, and dumped into a shallow unmarked grave on the side of the road during the trip.

I think as long as bombs drop at about the same speed as in ps1 and show up on the mini map immediately after leaving the lib's bomb bay that it shouldn't be a problem. Bombs were pretty easy to avoid if the lib was at max altitude and you were keeping an eye on your mini map. Even if libs were at max altitude, they were at least hunted down by aircraft pretty quickly.

Good points though Malorn for getting bombs into the game.

On that note would any else support the Vulture variant? Sounds like RedBeard is on board:

That's exactly what I'd prefer. Turns the liberator into a 2 person bomber quite easily and makes it distinguishable without the mortar and front gun. With the lower polygon count they could also snap on some extra rockets for the tailgunner to keep him busy. And we come full circle to the Vulture variant.
He also suggested a ground based laser for targetting the bombs. I think that has been brought up a few times.

I am flat out amazed at the people not wanting carpet bombing and such. For all those that are concerned about them being OP, no counter, etc... Fine. Give me my outfit gunner any day of the week over a bomb. He will make you cry, rage, break keyboards, and wish you had pushed for bombs. I'll be in that lib out of AA range with my gunner raining hell on you while being directed by a forward observer. It was nice knowing you.

*hugs*

High-altitude, so I am assuming that there will be "dumb bombs"?

Similar to the previous Liberator bombing view?

Oh man! I am HAPPY to hear that basic bombs are returning! Liberator's with mortars are a terror, but bombing was a NIGHTMARE that I wanted to stay. The sound of the bombs and knowing that you'd die if it passed overhead and you didn't seek shelter, what a rush it was!
